This guide gives you a step-by-step approach to bringing Varn the Slasher to life on the tabletop. Take your time with each stage for a result worthy of his imposing scale.

1. Prime

• Apply a zenithal prime using black from below and bone white or light grey from above to establish natural shading before any paint is applied.

2. Armour Base

• Base the leather skirt and wrappings with a mid-brown such as Rhinox Hide or Leather Brown, then layer up with Mournfang Brown.
• Paint the metal armour plates with Leadbelcher or Gunmetal, leaving recesses dark for a worn, grimy look.

3. Trim and Details

• Pick out skull details on the pauldron with Ushabti Bone, washed with Seraphim Sepia to settle into recesses.
• Paint rope and cord elements with Tallarn Sand highlighted with Karak Stone.

4. Weapons

• Basecoat the large axe blade with Retributor Armour or a similar rich gold, then wash with Reikland Fleshshade for depth.

5. Weathering
