“They stopped calling him by name four years back. Now the warband just points at the maul and says that one does the deciding.”
Rustland's Wolves - Storm Masters are the four fighters who have climbed above the pack and earned something rarer than survival: authority. These are the veterans who have seen enough of the Rustlands to stop flinching, and whose presence on the battlefield tells everyone else exactly how serious things have become. Each figure arrives as a physical resin miniature at 32mm scale, supports already removed and cleaned, ready to assemble and paint.
The squad covers four distinct combat personalities. The first is a shirtless brawler built like a wrecking crew, mohawk sharp, expression locked somewhere between fury and focus, hoisting a studded maul overhead with the casual confidence of someone who has used it plenty of times before. Spiked shoulder plate, spiked knee guards, and boots reinforced for stomping. The second figure is broader still, bearded and armoured in a riveted jacket marked with the wolf on the back, carrying a grenade launcher in one hand and a long-barrelled shotgun in the other, standing wide and ready. The third is a female fighter, lean and athletic, one arm resting easy at her hip while the other brings a heavy rifle to bear, spiked pauldron, studded arm guard, and the kind of stance that reads as completely unbothered. The fourth figure aims a plasma pistol straight outward with total calm, long coat open, second weapon hanging at her side, a picture of controlled precision. Every figure is sculpted by 42studio with the same level of surface detail that defines this entire range, from stitched leather to ribbed armour plating to weapon textures you can pick out with a fine brush.
The set also includes four interchangeable weapon parts for the open-hand figures: a grenade launcher, a shotgun, a pike, and a plasma pistol, giving you genuine flexibility in how you load out your Storm Masters on the table.
Supplied unpainted. Assembly may be required for multi-part figures.
Painting Guide: Rustland's Wolves - Storm MastersThese four figures reward a paint scheme that looks road-worn rather than parade-ground clean. Cracked leather, scuffed metal and faded faction colours will tell the story of fighters who have been out in the Rustlands long enough to matter.
1. Prime
- Spray with a grey or black primer for maximum contrast and shadow depth across the heavy creases and armour plating.
- A zenithal highlight in light grey or off-white on top will give you a strong starting point for any technique.
2. Armour Base
- Base the leather jacket areas in a deep brown such as Rhinox Hide or Doombull Brown.
- For armour panels and knee guards, try a dark military green or charcoal grey to contrast against the leather.
3. Trim and Details
- Pick out rivets, studs, and belt hardware in Leadbelcher or Boltgun Metal, then wash with Agrax Earthshade to settle them in.
- The wolf emblem on the jacket back works well in a warm off-white or bone tone, shaded into recesses with a brown wash.
4. Weapons
- Base weapon barrels and receivers in a dark metal such as Abaddon Black highlighted up through Eshin Grey to Dawnstone.
- Pick out mechanical details in brass or copper using Gehenna's Gold and wash with Nuln Oil for a well-used look.
5. Weathering
- Stipple Rhinox Hide and then Leadbelcher at edges and impact points using a torn sponge for fast, convincing chipping.
- Thin Typhus Corrosion or brown paint streaked downward from joints and seams adds rust and grime where moisture would collect.
6. Bases
- A cracked earth or rubble texture paste in grey-brown tones ties the Storm Masters visually to the rest of the Rustland's Wolves - Storm Masters collection and keeps the Rustlands aesthetic consistent across your warband.
This is an adult hobbyist collectible, not a toy. Not suitable for children under 14 years due to small, detailed parts.
