The Minoan Aegis Captain is a massively detailed resin miniature from AtlanForge, blending ancient Aegean myth with brutal sci-fi power armour. Standing as a towering commander, this figure is draped in bull-headed pauldrons, Greek key trim, and layered tactical plate that speaks of both divine lineage and battlefield dominance.
This kit is packed with modular options, including multiple head swaps featuring masked helmets, a bearded heroic face, and a full bull-headed visage, alongside interchangeable torsos, capes, shoulder guards, and a varied weapon loadout. Armaments include a broad xiphos-style blade, a thunder spear, a circular meander-engraved shield, and power fist variants, giving you full control over your captain's wargear and silhouette.
Designed as a single heroic centrepiece miniature, the Minoan Aegis Captain sits comfortably at approximately 40 to 50 mm in height from base to the tip of his halo arch, making him a commanding presence on any display shelf or tabletop. The sculpt rewards careful painting with deep surface relief across every panel, from the winged skull knee guards to the bull-relief chest plate and the ornate medallion belt clasp.
Whether you are building a Greek myth-inspired strike force or adding a unique commander to a chapter with proud ancient roots, this figure delivers exceptional quality and creative flexibility straight from the digital forge.
Painting Guide: Minoan Aegis CaptainThis guide walks you through a rich Aegean-inspired colour scheme that honours the ancient Minoan aesthetic while keeping the grimdark atmosphere intact.
1. Prime
- Apply a grey or black zenithal prime using spray or airbrush to establish pre-shading across the deep panel lines and relief detail.
2. Armour Base
- Basecoat the armour in a deep Aegean blue such as Kantor Blue or Macragge Blue applied by airbrush for an even foundation.
- Highlight up through Altdorf Guard Blue and edge highlight with Calgar Blue on all raised rims and panel edges.
3. Trim and Details
- Paint all Greek key trim, halo arch, and belt medallion in Retributor Armour, then shade with Reikland Fleshshade to bring out the engraved meander pattern.
- Final highlight the gold with Liberator Gold and a fine edge of Stormhost Silver on the sharpest points.
4. Weapons
- Basecoat the blade in Leadbelcher, shade with Nuln Oil, and edge highlight with Stormhost Silver for a cold steel finish.
- For the thunder spear haft, use a dark wood tone such as Rhinox Hide, layering up with Mournfang Brown and a final Ushabti Bone highlight.
5. Weathering
- Apply battle damage by stippling Skavenblight Dinge onto armour edges, followed by a fine Stormhost Silver chip highlight to simulate worn plate.
- Use a brown oil wash pooled into recesses around the knee guards and lower armour to suggest ancient grime and campaign wear.
6. Bases
- Match the ornate sculpted base by drybrushing Administratum Grey over an Astrogranite texture, then add a thin wash of Agrax Earthshade to tie in the stone tones with the overall warm gold trim of the Minoan captain.
