The Master Smith of Mars is a towering, heavily augmented warlord miniature that dominates the battlefield with sheer mechanical menace. This physical resin miniature arrives supports already removed, cleaned, and ready to assemble and paint. Standing approximately 54mm to the top of its backpack assembly, the model is a single-character release, sold as one multi-part kit containing the body, multiple mechanical tentacle arms, weapon options, and interchangeable head pieces.

Every component of the Master Smith of Mars has been sculpted with extraordinary attention to grimdark detail. The figure features a broad armoured torso draped in a tattered tabard, a belt-mounted skull icon, thick riveted pauldrons, and a dominating cylindrical power unit rising from the back. Multiple spiked mechadendrite tentacles coil outward from the chassis, each ending in bladed claws, firearms, or crushing pincers. The right arm carries a serrated power axe on a long haft, while various secondary limbs bristle with additional weapons and tools. The helmet is angular and industrial, conveying cold machine intelligence rather than human warmth.

The kit includes optional head variants, multiple mechadendrite configurations, and a scenic resin base. Assembly requires hobby plastic glue suitable for resin. Minimal cleanup is needed as supports have already been removed during production. Once assembled, the Master Smith of Mars makes a commanding centrepiece figure for any grimdark sci-fi collection or wargaming army.

This miniature is designed for adult collectors who demand high-fidelity detail in a display or gaming piece. The sculpt rewards careful assembly and patient brushwork, with layers of surface texture across every panel, cable, and mechanical appendage.

Painting Guide: Master Smith of Mars - Atlan Forge, Sci-Fi Wargaming Miniatures

The following guide is designed to help you achieve a striking, battle-worn finish on your miniature, from base coat through to final highlight and basing.

1. Prime

  • Apply a zenithal prime using black from below and light grey from directly above to establish pre-shading across the armour panels and mechadendrites.

2. Armour Base

  • Base coat the armour plates with a deep iron or dark steel grey, such as Leadbelcher or Scale75 Graphite.
  • Apply a thin black wash into all recesses to deepen panel lines and cable grooves before highlighting edges with a lighter silver.

3. Trim and Details

  • Paint trim, rivets, and mechanical joints in a warm brass or aged gold tone, washing with a dark brown to add patina.
  • Pick out cables and tubing in a contrasting dark red or burnt orange to break up the metallic palette.

4. Weapons

  • Basecoat the axe blade in dark metal, then draw a fine edge highlight in bright steel along the cutting edge to imply sharpness.
  • Add a subtle OSL glow in sickly green or cold blue around any power weapon nodes or muzzle vents.

5. Weathering

  • Stipple chipping with a torn blister sponge using dark brown and bright silver to simulate battle damage across the shoulder plates and legs.
  • Apply a thin oil paint filter of raw umber across the lower half of the miniature to suggest grime and scorched earth accumulation.

6. Bases

  • Texture the base with fine volcanic grit or cracked earth paste, then paint in deep charcoal tones with orange and red glazes to suggest a hellish industrial wasteland environment that complements the fiery red backdrop of the studio render.

This is an adult hobbyist collectible, not a toy. Not suitable for children under 14 years due to small, detailed parts.
