The Forgotten Champions collection delivers one of its most commanding figures yet: the Black Knight Rider, a single-model resin miniature sculpted by Haito that radiates menace and dark authority. Mounted upon a heavily armoured warhorse, this imposing figure stands ready to dominate any battlefield display or tabletop skirmish.

Every surface of this miniature is packed with incredible detail. The rider wears layered plate armour adorned with skull motifs and sweeping pauldrons, while a dramatic cloak billows behind. The horse is equally impressive, clad in ornate barding with riveted panels, feathered greaves, and a bladed chamfron. The lance extending from the rear pose is sharp and dynamic, giving the miniature a real sense of charging momentum. Skull iconography appears throughout, reinforcing the dark knightly theme without referencing any specific lore faction.

Sculpted by Haito, this piece exemplifies the grimdark aesthetic that defines the Forgotten Champions range. Fine surface textures, deep recesses, and clean geometry make this model a pleasure to both paint and display. The miniature sits on an oval scenic base featuring cracked stone terrain, approximately 75mm in length, giving the mounted model a suitably grand footprint.

Whether you are building an elite cavalry unit, a centrepiece model, or expanding your Forgotten Champions warband, the Black Knight Rider is an essential addition to any serious collector's shelf.

Painting Guide: Black Knight Rider

This guide will help you bring the Black Knight Rider to life using classic grimdark techniques suited to the dark knightly aesthetic of the Forgotten Champions line.

1. Prime

  • Apply a black primer spray for deep shadow retention across the armour recesses

2. Armour Base

  • Basecoat armour plates with Abaddon Black followed by a thin highlight of Dark Reaper
  • Drybrush raised edges lightly with Thunderhawk Blue for a cold steel finish

3. Trim and Details

  • Paint rivets and trim in Leadbelcher, washed with Nuln Oil
  • Pick out skull motifs in Rakarth Flesh shaded with Agrax Earthshade

4. Weapons

  • Basecoat the lance in Leadbelcher and layer up to Stormhost Silver at the tip
  • Add an OSL glow effect at the lance tip using thinned Yriel Yellow and White

5. Weathering

  • Apply stippled Rhinox Hide and Typhus Corrosion to lower armour panels and horse barding
  • Streak Agrax Earthshade in vertical lines across flat armour surfaces for battle wear

6. Bases

  • Drybrush the cracked stone base with Mechanicus Standard Grey, then Administratum Grey, and finish with a light dust of Praxeti White at the highest points
