The following guide is designed to help you achieve a striking black armour scheme with gold trim, suited to the knightly crusader aesthetic of this model.

1. Prime

• Apply a black spray primer or brush-on black primer to all parts before assembly for maximum coverage in recesses.
• A zenithal highlight of grey or white from directly above will help define the raised surfaces before any paint is applied.

2. Armour Base

• Basecoat all armour panels with a deep black or very dark grey such as Abaddon Black or equivalent.
• Drybrush raised edges lightly with a dark grey to begin establishing edge definition across the large armour plates.

3. Trim and Details

• Paint all trim, devotional symbols, and backpack engravings with a rich gold basecoat such as Retributor Armour or equivalent.
• Shade the gold areas with a brown or sepia wash, then re-highlight with a bright gold or silver on the sharpest edges.

4. Weapons

• Basecoat the sword blade with a mid-grey metallic, then highlight toward the cutting edge with a bright silver.
• Add a faint object source lighting glow in pale blue or white along the sword edge if you wish to suggest an energy effect.

5. Weathering

• Use a fine brush loaded with thinned dark grey to stipple chips and scratches across armour surfaces, focusing on knee pads, shoulder pads, and lower legs.
