Forgotten Champions brings you Baron Varmont, a towering Giant warlord standing as a centerpiece miniature for any collection. Armed with a massive axe and a heavily studded shield adorned with a horned skull motif, this single-figure resin kit captures the savage authority of a battlefield commander who has crushed countless foes beneath his iron boots.

Sculpted by Haito, Baron Varmont is a masterwork of detail. His layered plate armour is wrapped in furs and bound leather straps, while skull-decorated pauldrons and spiked bracers reinforce his brutal silhouette. He stands atop a dramatic rocky base scattered with sharpened wooden stakes, broken skulls, and a torn battlefield standard — telling a story of conquest without a single word.

This model is supplied as a high-resolution resin print ready for priming and painting. The sculpt rewards both beginner and advanced painters, with deep recesses for washes and bold raised surfaces ideal for drybrushing. At an estimated 75mm to 80mm in height, Baron Varmont commands the table as a named hero, boss encounter, or faction leader for any grimdark setting.

Forgotten Champions models are designed for collectors and tabletop players who demand exceptional quality. Whether displayed on a shelf or deployed on the battlefield, Baron Varmont is built to dominate.

Painting Guide: Baron Varmont - Giant

Baron Varmont rewards a grimdark palette of cold metals, aged bone, and battle-worn leather. This guide will help you bring the Forgotten Champions warlord to life with depth and battlefield grit.

1. Prime

  • Apply a zenithal prime using black from below and grey from above to establish natural shading before a single brush stroke is made.

2. Armour Base

  • Basecoat plate armour with a dark steel grey such as Leadbelcher or equivalent.
  • Apply a heavy black wash into all recesses to deepen the aged metal effect across the layered plates.

3. Trim and Details

  • Pick out skull ornaments and shield boss details with a pale bone colour such as Ushabti Bone, then shade with Seraphim Sepia.
  • Paint fur trim with a mid-brown base, wash with dark brown, then drybrush with a lighter cream tone for texture.

4. Weapons

  • Basecoat the axe blade with Leadbelcher, then edge highlight with Stormhost Silver on the sharpest angles.
  • Paint the axe haft and stake poles with a warm wood brown, wash with Agrax Earthshade, and drybrush lightly with pale tan.

5. Weathering

  • Use a sponge or stipple brush to apply chipping effects with dark brown and bright silver on armour edges and the shield face.
  • Add rust streaks around rivets using orange-brown paint thinned to a wash consistency, drawn downward from each metal stud.

6. Bases

  • Drybrush the rocky base with successive layers of grey and off-white, paint skull details in bone tones, and finish wooden stakes with dark brown washed and highlighted timber colours to complete the battlefield scene.
