This guide will walk you through painting Baron Varmont to a high tabletop standard, with tips for achieving gritty grimdark contrast across armour, furs, and weathered details.

1. Prime

• Apply a grey or black spray primer to achieve a strong, consistent base coat across all surfaces including recesses.
• A light zenithal highlight with white over the grey prime will help map light sources and speed up shading.

2. Armour Base

• Block in the plate armour with a dark steel or iron basecoat such as Leadbelcher or Scale75 Speed Metal.
• Apply a dark brown or black wash into all recesses to define panel lines and bolted details.

3. Trim and Details

• Pick out bone trim, skull decorations, and horn details with a mid-tone bone colour such as Ushabti Bone, building up to a cream highlight on edges.
• Paint leather straps and wrappings in dark brown, washing with a sepia tone and edge highlighting with a lighter tan.

4. Weapons
