Windwarden Battle Tank - 32mm Resin Miniature

The Windwarden Battle Tank is a single heavy armoured vehicle cast in resin, built to anchor a battle line and draw every eye on the table. Squat, brutal and bristling with weaponry, this is a war machine that communicates its purpose without a word: roll forward, absorb punishment, and reduce whatever stands ahead to rubble. The hull is stacked with riveted armour plating, external stowage boxes, and a ring of mechanical detail that rewards close inspection from every angle. A raised central turret carries a heavy-bore cannon alongside secondary weapon mounts, while sponson-mounted guns and smaller hull weapons ensure nothing gets a free pass at short range. The distinctive oversized track assemblies flank a recessed drive wheel, giving the whole silhouette a low-slung, unstoppable quality that looks right at home in any grimdark sci-fi warzone.

Sculpted by Atlan Forge, this piece carries all the hallmarks of their vehicle range: dense surface geometry, deliberate asymmetry in the weapon loadout, and a sense of lived-in military hardware rather than parade-ground shine. The turret comes as a separate component, allowing a degree of positioning before you commit to the glue. The model arrives as an unpainted, unassembled resin miniature with supports already removed, cleaned and ready for a quick wash before you begin building.

This vehicle has a lot of flat panel real estate broken up by deep recesses and sharp raised edges, which makes it an excellent candidate for contrast-style basecoating followed by traditional edge highlighting. Take your time on the track assemblies and the sponson details, as those areas carry a lot of the model's visual weight.

1. Prime

• Apply a grey primer across the whole model to give an even, neutral base that works with both warm and cool tone palettes.
• A light zenithal pass with white from above will pre-shade the upper surfaces and make subsequent layers more efficient.

2. Armour Base

• Basecoat the hull panels in a deep olive drab or cold dark grey depending on your faction colours.
• Apply thin coats and build up coverage steadily rather than flooding the recesses on the first pass.

3. Trim and Details

• Pick out rivets, access hatches, and stowage boxes in a darker metallic or a contrasting neutral to break up the large panels.
• Spot-colour any devotional markings or sensor lenses in a saturated accent, such as deep amber or cold blue, to give the eye somewhere to travel.

4. Weapons

• Basecoat all weapon barrels and housings in a dark iron tone, then dry-brush with a bright silver to catch every raised edge.
• Add a spot of muzzle-burn discolouration around the barrel tips using a yellow-to-brown glaze to suggest heavy use.

5. Weathering

• Apply a dark brown wash into all recesses and panel joins, letting it pool naturally and then removing any excess from open surfaces.
• Chip the armour edges using a small piece of torn blister foam stippled with a dark brown followed by a lighter metallic, focusing on corners and the lower track guards.
• Add mud and grime to the lower hull and track assemblies using texture paste or pigment powders in raw umber and dust tones.

6. Bases

• Match the base texture to your existing force, whether that is cracked urban rubble, ash wasteland or churned warzone earth, so the tank reads as part of a coherent collection rather than an isolated centrepiece.
