This WarpLand miniature depicts one of the most feared practitioners of the Void arts to stalk the shattered wastes: a Warlock of the old order, draped in flowing robes and armed with the instruments of arcane ruin. Standing 31mm from feet to eyes, this finely detailed resin model captures the dread authority of those who have bargained with forces beyond mortal comprehension, channelling the Warp itself into skull-capped flame and a twisted bat-crowned staff.
Warlocks occupy a knife-edge existence in the world of WarpLand. Worshipped in the shadowed cults of Obsidia, hunted by Temple zealots everywhere else, these sorcerers trade in corrupted knowledge and void-touched power. This figure carries all the hallmarks of their dark craft: the eye-branded belt buckle, the skull medallion at his chest, and the burning spectral skull raised aloft in challenge. His long beard and hardened face speak of decades spent walking the boundary between sanity and the Taint.
The kit is supplied as 5 separate resin parts, allowing for clean assembly and straightforward conversion work. Components include the main body, staff, raised arm with skull flame, and the round scenic base. Sculpted by Taiga Miniatures to a high standard of detail, the flowing robes and layered armoured collar reward careful painting with strong highlights and deep shadow work.
Compatible with 28mm to 32mm scale tabletop roleplaying games and skirmish systems. Perfect as a villain, cult leader, or player character for campaigns set in Arkanar, Lagash, or wherever the Void bleeds into the living world. Supplied unpainted and unassembled. Resin requires standard hobby preparation before painting.
Painting Guide: WarlockThis guide aims to recreate a sinister, Void-touched aesthetic, using deep purples, necrotic greens, and cold spectral blues to bring this WarpLand miniature to life on your gaming table.
1. Prime
- Prime with a black or very dark grey spray for maximum shadow retention across the robes and recesses
- Follow with a zenithal highlight of grey from above to establish your light source before any colour is applied
2. Robes Base
- Apply a deep purple basecoat to the robes, working up through magenta mid-tones toward a pale pink at the highest raised folds
- Use a dark brown ink wash into all recesses to tie the shadows together and push depth into the layered cloth
3. Trim and Details
- Paint the belt, pouches, and armoured collar in a warm bone or aged leather tone, washed with sepia for a worn, weathered finish
- Pick out the skull medallion and eye buckle in tarnished silver, then stipple a thin rust wash across the metallic surfaces to suggest age and corruption
4. Weapons and Magic
- Basecoat the staff in a dark green, drybrush with lighter greens toward the bat gargoyle at the top, and finish the creature's eyes with a dot of bright amber
- For the skull flame, build up from a dark teal at the base through turquoise and into near-white at the tips, glazing repeatedly to achieve a smooth OSL glow effect across the raised hand and nearby robe
5. Skin and Face
- Paint the face and hands in a sallow, unhealthy tone, washing with a purple-brown mix to emphasise the gaunt hollows of his cheeks and brow
- Pick out the eyes with a pale yellow iris and a sharp black pupil, adding a tiny white reflection dot to give them a cold, calculating gleam
6. Bases
- Texture the base with fine sand or a cracked earth paste, painted in dark ash grey and drybrushed up to pale stone, to suggest the ruined wastelands of Arkanar or the cursed outskirts of Lagash
- Add a thin glaze of green or purple ink around the base edge to imply residual Void energy seeping from wherever this WarpLand miniature chooses to walk
