The Vortex Keeper APC arrives as a single physical resin miniature, cast in clean grey resin with supports already removed and surfaces cleaned, ready to assemble and paint straight from the box. Supplied unpainted. The kit contains 36 parts, giving you an exceptionally rewarding and complex build packed with mechanical detail at every angle, from the reinforced hull panels to the front dozer blade and the multi-option turret assembly.
Measuring approximately 150mm in length, 94mm in width, and 70.5mm in height, this is a substantial armoured personnel carrier that commands real presence on any tabletop. The hull is covered in intricate surface detailing including massed skull relief panels, riveted armour plates, track guards, exhaust stacks, and sponson-mounted weapons. The turret accepts multiple weapon configurations, giving you genuine build variety to suit your preferred loadout and playstyle.
Sculpted by DakkaDakka, the Vortex Keeper APC reflects the grimdark Imperium aesthetic with authority, blending brutal functionality with ornate devotional iconography across every panel. The separate weapon options, dozer blade, side hatches, and sponson pieces all fit together cleanly, rewarding careful assembly with a finished model that looks striking from every angle.
Whether you field it as a frontline transport, a centrepiece for your collection, or a terrain anchor for narrative games, this model delivers the kind of weight and character that only a large multi-part resin kit can provide.
Painting Guide: Vortex Keeper APCThe model's large flat armour panels and deep recesses make it ideal for layered painting techniques. The guide below follows the deep red and aged bronze scheme shown in the preview renders, but adapts easily to any colour palette.
1. Prime
- Apply a black or dark grey spray primer to the fully assembled or sub-assembled model, ensuring full coverage inside recesses and under the dozer blade.
- A light zenithal highlight in white or light grey from above will help establish where natural light falls before you apply colour.
2. Armour Base
- Basecoat all hull and turret panels with a deep red such as Mephiston Red or Khorne Red, applied in thin, even coats.
- Build up coverage with a second coat if needed, keeping the paint thin to preserve surface texture and panel line detail.
3. Trim and Details
- Pick out all trim, edging, and decorative panels in a mid-tone bronze or gold such as Balthazar Gold or Gehenna's Gold.
- Apply a wash of Agrax Earthshade or Reikland Fleshshade over the gold to knock it back and add warmth to the recesses.
- Paint any cloth or leather elements in Zandri Dust or Baneblade Brown, shading with Agrax Earthshade.
4. Weapons
- Basecoat all gun barrels, sponson weapons, and turret weapons in Leadbelcher or Ironbreaker.
- Wash heavily with Nuln Oil to darken and define the metal surfaces, then edge highlight with Stormhost Silver on raised rims and muzzle openings.
5. Weathering
- Stipple chipped paint effects along hull edges using a sponge or torn blister foam, applying a dark brown followed by a lighter metallic to simulate worn armour.
- Apply a thin filter of Typhus Corrosion or brown oil paint around exhausts, track units, and the lower hull to suggest accumulated grime and battlefield wear.
- Drybrush the dozer blade and track sections lightly with Ryza Rust followed by a bright silver to suggest heavy mechanical use.
6. Bases
- This model is supplied without a base. Consider a large oval or custom scenic base in a rubble and ash waste theme to complement the vehicle's scale and grimdark character.
This is an adult hobbyist collectible, not a toy. Not suitable for children under 14 years due to small, detailed parts.
