These Vampire Knights Accessories reward a layered approach that contrasts cold, lifeless tones with flashes of aged metal and sickly organic colour. Take your time with the small pieces, as the scale of the detail makes careful drybrushing and spot washes the most effective techniques.

1. Prime

• Prime all components with a black or dark grey spray for maximum contrast and to make recesses read clearly from the start.
• For pale bone and skull pieces, a follow-up light grey zenithal pass adds depth before you apply any paint.

2. Armour Base

• Basecoat armour plates in a deep charcoal or dark iron tone such as Abaddon Black or Iron Warriors.
• Layer up with a dark blue-grey highlight to give the armour a cold, unnatural sheen rather than a warm steel look.

3. Trim and Details

• Paint trim and ornamental edging in aged gold using a dark brown basecoat, a mid-gold layer, and a selective Agrax Earthshade wash to knock it back.
• Pick out skull and bone ornaments with Ushabti Bone, shaded with Seraphim Sepia, then highlighted back up with Screaming Skull for a dry, sun-bleached finish.

4. Weapons

• Basecoat blades in Leadbelcher and wash with Nuln Oil, then edge highlight with Stormhost Silver for a bright, sharp finish along cutting edges.
• For the large gothic sword, add a faint blue-green glaze along the blade to suggest an unholy enchantment.

5. Weathering

• Apply Typhus Corrosion to chains, hooks, and any iron fixture to give them a heavily rusted, neglected look.
• Drybrush Ryza Rust over the Typhus Corrosion sparingly for raised rust flecks, and stipple Nihilakh Oxide into recesses of bronze or gold fittings.

6. Bases

• For any accessories attached to bases, use dark flagstone texture paint, a Nuln Oil wash, and a light Administratum Grey drybrush to suggest ancient stone. Add tufts or dead grass for a blighted wasteland feel.
