This Trench Crusade style physical resin miniature, the Jaula de Castigo, is a single imposing figure cast in high-quality grey resin and delivered to you with supports already removed and surfaces cleaned. Standing approximately 69 mm from base to tip, this heavily armoured construct is a commanding presence on any battlefield or display shelf. The sculpt captures a squat, brutal silhouette clad in riveted plate armour, adorned with chains, padlocks, crossed keys, and spiked iron balls on heavy chains that trail across the base. The conical helmet is crowned with a sharp finial and a five-pointed star, reinforcing the devotional, inquisitorial character of the piece.
The miniature arrives in 10 parts, ready to assemble and paint. The level of detail across every surface rewards careful brushwork, from the layered chain links bunched across the torso to the embossed cross panels and ventilated face mask. Whether you are building a warband of zealous warriors or collecting striking character pieces, the Trench Crusade style of this sculpt fits naturally into grimdark infantry forces, serving as a heavy enforcer, a bound champion, or a penitent guardian. Sculpted by DakkaDakka, every component fits together cleanly and is scaled for use alongside 28 mm and 32 mm scale forces.
The back of the figure features a large circular engine disc and a cross-shaped reliquary panel with a heavy padlock, while the sides show additional lock details and hanging iron keys, suggesting a being that is as much a walking prison as a warrior. Both fists carry spiked flails on lengths of thick chain, giving the model a dynamic, threatening presence even in a static pose. This Trench Crusade style design sits comfortably alongside other ecclesiastical or inquisitorial warbands in grimdark tabletop settings.
The miniature is supplied unpainted and unassembled. Plastic cement or super glue is recommended for assembly. Paints and tools are sold separately.
Painting Guide: Trench Crusade style - Jaula de CastigoThe Jaula de Castigo rewards a grimdark palette of corroded metals, aged leather tones, and heavy weathering. The following guide will help you achieve a battle-worn, devotional look in keeping with the Trench Crusade style aesthetic.
1. Prime
- Apply a grey or black spray primer across all parts before assembly to ensure even coverage in recessed areas such as the chain links and padlocks.
2. Armour Base
- Base coat all plate sections with a mid-grey or dark iron metallic colour such as Leadbelcher or equivalent.
- Apply a dark brown or black wash into all recesses to add immediate depth and separate the panels.
3. Trim and Details
- Pick out the padlocks, keys, rivets, and chain links with a brighter silver to create contrast against the darker plate.
- Paint embossed crosses and the star finial with a tarnished gold or bronze tone, then wash with a dark brown shade.
4. Weapons
- Paint the spiked iron balls and chain links with a dark steel, then dry brush with bright silver to catch the raised edges.
- Add small rust orange stipples to the chain surfaces for a corroded, aged effect.
5. Weathering
- Apply chipping effects to armour edges using a sponge and dark brown paint, focusing on high-contact areas around the fists and shoulders.
- Streak the torso and legs with thin brown and orange washes running vertically to suggest rust and grime accumulation.
6. Bases
- Texture the 69 mm base with a mix of coarse sand, small gravel, and scatter debris, then paint in muddy browns and dark greys to evoke a war-torn trench or ruined courtyard.
