Couldn't load pickup availability
The Great Vortex Knightmech arrives as a single physical resin miniature, standing approximately 113mm tall, cast in clean grey resin with supports already removed and surfaces cleaned, ready to assemble and paint straight from the box. Supplied unpainted. The kit contains 47 parts, giving you a substantial build with meaningful assembly that rewards careful preparation and dry-fitting before gluing.
This is a towering, war-engine drawn from the brutal, battle-hardened ranks of the Vortex Knights. Every surface tells a story of dark industry and relentless violence, from the riveted armour panels and piston-driven legs to the glowing vortex-green exhaust vents and twin-barrelled weapons systems. A skull motif sits at the heart of the torso, framed by arched plating, while cabling, mechanical joints and layered armour sections give the sculpt genuine depth at this scale. Multiple weapon options are included, allowing you to configure the Knightmech to suit your warband or display preference.
Sculpted by DakkaDakka, this piece carries the same savage, mutated energy found across their wider corrupted-warband range, scaled up to centrepiece proportions. The footprint measures 60mm wide by 71mm deep at the base, making it a commanding presence on any shelf or gaming table.
Resin miniatures at this scale benefit from a gentle warm-water wash before priming to remove any residual release agent. Check all 47 parts for fit before committing to glue, and use a quality cyanoacrylate adhesive for secure joins on the larger structural sections.
Painting Guide: The Great Vortex Knightmech - 113mm Resin Miniature
The painted studio version shown uses a deep crimson armour scheme with brass trim, oily dark metal mechanics, and glowing acid-green vents. The steps below follow that approach, though the weapon options and panel shapes suit almost any corrupted-warband palette.
1. Prime
- Wash all parts in warm soapy water and allow to dry fully before priming.
- Apply a zenithal prime: black from below, grey from directly above, to establish instant shading across the complex geometry.
2. Armour Base
- Base coat all armour panels with a deep red. Mephiston Red or Vallejo Gory Red work well at this scale.
- Shade the recesses with a dark brown wash such as Agrax Earthshade, then layer back up with the original red, finishing the highest edges with a touch of orange-red for a heat-worn look.
3. Trim and Details
- Pick out all trim, edging and bolt heads with Retributor Armour or Vallejo Brass, then shade with a sepia wash to antique the finish.
- The arched chest plate and shoulder shields suit a lighter bone highlight over the brass to separate them from the surrounding armour.
4. Weapons
- Base the mechanical arm components and weapon barrels with Leadbelcher, wash heavily with Nuln Oil, and drybrush lightly with Ironbreaker to bring out raised detail.
- Add a thin line of orange-brown chipping along barrel edges using a fine brush or torn blister foam for a battle-worn finish.
5. Weathering
- Apply thin streaks of rust using Typhus Corrosion or diluted brown pigment, running downward from bolts, joints and panel edges.
- Dot small scratches and chips onto the armour panels with a dark brown, then add a thin silver line below each chip to simulate fresh metal beneath the paint.
6. Bases
- The cast base fits a 60x71mm footprint. Texture paste, rubble and a dark grey drybrush suit the industrial warzone aesthetic of the warband range.
- A gloss varnish on the vents before a final matte coat across the rest of the model will keep the glowing green power sources looking vivid against the matte armour.
This is an adult hobbyist collectible, not a toy. Not suitable for children under 14 years due to small, detailed parts.
