The Alcat Rats Heavy Infantry arrives as a build kit containing parts to make ten physical resin miniatures, each standing 29mm from feet to eyes, cast in clean grey resin with supports already removed and surfaces cleaned, ready to assemble and paint straight from the box. Supplied unpainted.

This is a squad of hardened, battle-worn soldiers drawn from the grimdark underbelly of a sprawling industrial warzone. They wear layered flak coats, reinforced knee guards, and an assortment of battered combat helmets, respirators, goggles, and face masks that speak to years of brutal campaigning in toxic and hostile environments. Each figure carries a heavy armament chosen from a generous spread of bulky las-carbines, stubby assault weapons, long-barrelled support guns, and close-quarters blades, giving the squad a well-armed, versatile look across the table.

The build kit includes 43 unique parts across 5 interchangeable bodies, 10 distinct heads, and 33 arms and weapons, allowing a wide range of poses and loadouts. Every component is designed to clip and bond cleanly, making assembly straightforward for hobbyists of all experience levels. The variety in stance, headgear, and weaponry ensures no two troopers in your warband need look the same.

Sculpted by DakkaDakka, the Alcat Rats Heavy Infantry squad sits comfortably alongside other grimdark infantry ranges while bringing its own gritty, streetwise character to any collection or skirmish force.

Painting Guide: The Alcat Rats Heavy Infantry (build kit)

These troopers suit a worn, utilitarian palette heavy on earth tones, cold metals, and chipped coatings. The guide below walks through a practical approach from primer to finished base.

1. Prime

  • Apply a grey or black spray primer across all assembled or sub-assembled pieces, ensuring full coverage in recesses around straps and buckles.

2. Armour Base

  • Basecoat the flak coats in a warm tan or ochre brown such as Zandri Dust or Hobgrot Hide.
  • Paint the leg armour and knee pads in a deep military green such as Castellan Green or Dark Angels Green.

3. Trim and Details

  • Pick out straps, buckles, and pouches in a dark leather brown such as Rhinox Hide, then highlight edges with Balor Brown.
  • Paint respirator tubes, hoses, and goggle lenses with Mechanicus Standard Grey, then highlight lenses with a thin glaze of Aethermatic Blue or Waystone Green for a worn lens effect.

4. Weapons

  • Basecoat weapon bodies with Leadbelcher or Gunmetal, then wash heavily with Nuln Oil to build depth across mechanical detail.
  • Pick out any cabling, grips, or stocks in a contrasting dark brown and edge highlight the barrels lightly with Ironbreaker.

5. Weathering

  • Stipple chipped paint effects onto armour panels using a torn blister foam sponge loaded with Rhinox Hide followed by a lighter stipple of Ironbreaker.
  • Apply a thin pin wash of Agrax Earthshade into all recesses on the armour and around boot soles to suggest accumulated grime.

6. Bases

  • Texture paste or fine sand in a grey-brown tone works well to evoke broken rockcrete. Drybrush with Administratum Grey and pick out any rubble with Mechanicus Standard Grey before a final light drybrush of Praxeti White.

This is an adult hobbyist collectible, not a toy. Not suitable for children under 14 years due to small, detailed parts.
