The Alcat Rats Garrison Commander arrives as a single physical resin miniature, standing 29mm from feet to eyes, cast in clean grey resin with supports already removed and surfaces cleaned, ready to assemble and paint straight from the box. Supplied unpainted.
This is a battle-hardened commander drawn from the grimdark underbelly of a sprawling industrial warzone, sculpted in a confident, authoritative stance. She leans on a heavy bore weapon with one mechanical arm while the other grips a brutal multi-socket wrench device, hinting at a character who leads from the front and fixes what breaks along the way. Curled, war-worn hair frames a sharp and weathered face, one eye replaced by a crude optical implant that glows with a faint red light. Utility belts, pouches, knee armour, and heavy boots round out the silhouette of a commander who has long since traded ceremony for function.
The kit comes in 8 parts, giving you multiple arm and weapon options so you can tailor the pose to suit your force. The level of detail across the face, clothing folds, and mechanical components is exceptional at this scale, rewarding careful brushwork at every stage.
Sculpted by DakkaDakka, this piece sits comfortably at the head of any Alcat Rats infantry force and works equally well as a leader model, a narrative character, or a display centrepiece on your painting desk.
Painting Guide: The Alcat Rats Garrison CommanderThe render palette of tan, green, and worn metal gives you a strong foundation to work from. The guide below follows those colours closely while adding depth through layering and weathering techniques.
1. Prime
- Prime the assembled model with a neutral grey spray primer, applied in thin, even coats from roughly 30cm away to preserve fine facial detail and the small mechanical elements.
2. Armour Base
- Basecoat the jacket and coat in a warm tan, such as Zandri Dust or Skrag Brown, then shade the recesses with Agrax Earthshade to define the fabric folds.
- Paint the trousers in a deep olive green, such as Death World Forest, and shade with Athonian Camoshade for a muted field look.
3. Trim and Details
- Pick out the belt buckles, knee pads, and utility clasps in a mid-silver such as Leadbelcher, then wash with Nuln Oil to knock back the brightness and simulate worn metal.
- Paint the hair in a deep auburn base, such as Doombull Brown, layered up with Skrag Brown and a final highlight of Kislev Flesh on the highest curls.
4. Weapons
- Basecoat the heavy bore weapon and the wrench device in Leadbelcher, then drybrush lightly with Ironbreaker to bring out the edges and bolt heads.
- Paint the glowing red lens on the wrench device with a deep red base such as Khorne Red, layered up through Evil Sunz Scarlet to a bright White Scar dot at the centre to create a lens effect.
5. Weathering
- Apply streaks of Agrax Earthshade or Typhus Corrosion along the lower legs, boots, and weapon shafts to suggest field use and mud accumulation.
- Add small chips to the jacket and coat by stippling thinned Skavenblight Dinge with a torn blister foam piece, concentrating on edges and high-wear areas around the belt and shoulders.
6. Bases
- Texture the base in an urban rubble mix using Astrogranite Debris, dry-brushed with Administratum Grey and edged with a dark rim paint such as Abaddon Black to finish the model cleanly.
This is an adult hobbyist collectible, not a toy. Not suitable for children under 14 years due to small, detailed parts.
