Templar Heavy Aegis - 32mm Resin Miniatures

The Templar Heavy Aegis is a squad of three heavily armoured crusader warriors, each one a walking fortress of sacred plate and overwhelming firepower. Sculpted by Atlan Forge, these figures carry the weight of holy war in every rivet and chain-draped pauldron, combining ornate devotional iconography with brutal, oversized weapons that leave no doubt about their purpose on the battlefield.

Each warrior stands at approximately 32mm scale and arrives as a physical resin miniature with supports already removed and surfaces cleaned, ready to assemble and paint. The kit includes modular components: three torso variants, three leg poses, multiple backpack options, three helmet designs, three chest plate styles, and a full spread of heavy weapon arm sets. That level of variety means no two squads in your collection need look identical, and a single purchase gives you genuine options at the hobby desk.

The weapons are the centrepiece of the kit. Feed-belt heavy bolters, multi-barrelled support guns, and siege-pattern cannons are all represented, each cast with the kind of surface detail that rewards careful painting. Ammunition belts loop and curl around the figures, adding both visual mass and narrative weight to poses that already read as unstoppable.

The Templar Heavy Aegis fits naturally alongside other units in the crusader range, and the modular build means it can anchor a heavy support line or serve as a centrepiece unit depending on how you assemble it.

These figures reward a methodical approach. The layered armour surfaces and recessed detail channels are well suited to contrast-style washes followed by careful edge highlighting, and the weapon housings respond well to a clean, utilitarian finish that contrasts with the richer devotional elements on the chest and shoulders.

1. Prime

• Apply a grey or black spray primer across all surfaces for maximum detail retention.
• A zenithal white pass over the top helps establish a built-in light source before you lay down any colour.

2. Armour Base

• For a classic crusader scheme, base coat the armour in Abaddon Black or a deep charcoal grey.
• Alternatively, pure white armour using Corax White followed by White Scar layering creates a striking penitent look.

3. Trim and Details

• Pick out trim, aquilas, crosses, and devotional seals in Retributor Armour or Gehenna Gold for a warm, aged gilt finish.
• Apply Agrax Earthshade into the recesses of all gold areas and leave it to settle naturally before re-highlighting with Liberator Gold.

4. Weapons

• Base the weapon housings in Leadbelcher and wash with Nuln Oil for a well-worn metal finish.
• Pick out barrel ends and feed mechanisms with Ironbreaker dry-brushed lightly to catch the raised edges.
• Ammunition rounds on the belt links look effective in a brass tone to differentiate them from the gun body.

5. Weathering

• Stipple thinned Rhinox Hide around knee and boot armour panels to simulate campaign dirt.
• Add fine scratches to armour edges using a small detail brush loaded with Ironbreaker over the base colour.

6. Bases

• A shattered stone or gothic tile texture paste suits the aesthetic well. Finish with a dark grey drybrush and tufts of dead grass for contrast.
