Templar Commander - Sci-Fi Wargaming Miniature

Standing approximately 35-40mm to eye level, the Templar Commander is a single large-scale character miniature. The model is available with multiple arm configurations, including a broad power sword, a brutal single-headed axe, and a sidearm pistol, allowing you to pose and assemble the warrior that fits your warband's needs. Chains hang in thick loops across the waist, a billowing cape sweeps behind the figure, and the helmet is flanked by additional skull ornaments that reinforce the miniature's grimdark aesthetic. This miniature is supplied unpainted and may require minor cleaning along seam lines before assembly. Plastic cement is not suitable for resin. We recommend cyanoacrylate adhesive for bonding parts. Paints, glue, and tools are sold separately.

The following guide is designed to help you bring out the best in this heavily ornamented warrior. Take your time at each stage and thin your paints to preserve fine surface detail.

1. Prime

• Apply a uniform coat of grey or black spray primer, ensuring full coverage inside recesses and across the chainmail tabard.
• For a lighter scheme, a white zenithal highlight over black primer adds immediate depth before any colour is applied.

2. Armour Base

• For a classic crusader look, base coat all armour plates with a pure black or very dark grey acrylic.
• Alternatively, apply a deep ivory or aged white to suggest a purified order's livery, then shade with a sepia wash to amber the recesses.

3. Trim and Details

• Pick out all raised crosses, rivets, rope detailing, and belt fittings in a gold or brass basecoat, then apply a dark brown shade into the recesses.
• Edge highlight the raised iron cross symbols and border trim with a bright gold or pale silver to make them read clearly at arm's length on the tabletop.

4. Weapons

• Base coat the sword blade and axe head in a mid-grey, then apply a silver drybrush and edge highlight along the sharpened edges.
• The pistol can be painted dark metal with a light silver highlight along raised surfaces and trigger details.

5. Weathering

• Apply a thin brown or black wash across all armour panels and let it pool in corners to simulate grime and battle damage.
• Use a sponge or stippling brush with a dark rust colour to add chipping and corrosion across the heaviest armour plates, especially the shoulder guards and knee armour.

6. Bases

• Texture paste or fine ballast applied around the sculpted rock base works well. Paint it in dark stone tones, then drybrush pale grey and add tufts of dead grass for a desolate battlefield setting.
