Talara is a fearless Human Barbarian miniature, sculpted with raw power and commanding presence. Standing approximately 32mm scale, this physical resin miniature arrives with supports already removed, cleaned, and ready to assemble and paint. She wields an imposing double-headed battle axe resting across her shoulders, her stance wide and confident, radiating the energy of a warrior who has survived countless brutal engagements across unforgiving frontiers.
The sculpt captures exceptional surface detail across every element of her outfit. Layered leather straps, buckled thigh guards, fur-trimmed boots, and a studded pauldron all contribute to a rugged, road-worn aesthetic. A decorative ring-tipped staff counterbalances the great axe, hinting at a character who combines brute force with practical cunning. Two poses are included in this release, front and rear views confirming the depth of detail across the entire model, from her braided hair wrap to the rune-carved axe head.
This miniature is ideal for tabletop skirmish games, roleplaying game campaigns, or display collections. The sculpt suits any savage or tribal warband setting and pairs naturally with other barbarian or frontier warrior figures. Cast in high-quality grey resin, the surface holds fine detail extremely well and accepts primer and paint with ease.
Whether you are building a warband or expanding a painted display shelf, Talara brings personality and technical challenge in equal measure. Her dynamic pose, intricate equipment details, and heroic proportions make her one of the standout pieces in any barbarian-themed collection. This piece comes from Haito's catalogue of original miniature designs.
Painting Guide: Talara - Human BarbarianThe following guide is designed for intermediate painters looking to bring out the depth and character of this sculpt using layering and wash techniques.
1. Prime
- Apply a light grey or bone-coloured spray primer evenly across all surfaces to preserve fine detail on the axe runes and leather strapping.
2. Armour Base
- Base coat leather armour panels in a mid-brown such as Rhinox Hide or Leather Brown.
- Apply a flat tan or Sand base to the exposed skin areas, building up in thin coats for smooth coverage.
3. Trim and Details
- Pick out buckles, rings, and belt fittings with a dull bronze or aged gold base coat followed by a sepia wash to deepen recesses.
- Highlight raised leather edges with a lighter tan, such as Ushabti Bone, using a fine detail brush.
4. Weapons
- Base the axe head in a cool dark metal such as Leadbelcher or Dark Steel, then wash with Nuln Oil for depth in the rune engravings.
- Dry brush the blade edges with Runefang Steel or a bright silver to emphasise sharpness and battle wear.
5. Weathering
- Apply stippled rust tones using Skrag Brown and Ryza Rust around the axe head and boot fittings for a lived-in battlefield look.
- Add subtle dirt and mud effects to the lower boots and base rim using thinned Rhinox Hide or pigment powders.
6. Bases
- Drybrush the rocky rubble base in light grey followed by a white edge highlight, then add tufts of wild grass or moss to suggest a highland or wilderness setting that suits Talara's character perfectly.
