“Its pods split when the ash gets thick enough, scattering seed into the grey. Wherever they take root, nothing grows again, but something else does.”
Stormseed Crowler

The Stormseed Crowler is a massive, hulking beast that dominates the battlefield with raw, primal ferocity. This physical resin miniature arrives with supports already removed, cleaned, and ready to assemble and paint. Standing as a formidable large monster, the model measures approximately 60mm in length and sits on a detailed rocky base, making it an imposing centrepiece for any warband or collection.

Supplied unpainted.

Sculpted with extraordinary detail, the Stormseed Crowler features a heavily armoured hide covered in bulbous seed-pod growths, a gaping maw lined with jagged teeth, and a gnarled, branch-like tail that curves dramatically upward. The texture across its body shifts from smooth dome-like protrusions to rough, crocodilian scales and layered belly plates, giving painters a wealth of surfaces to explore across a single model.

This creature draws inspiration from ancient, storm-scarred wilderness fauna, fused with the grotesque biology of something that has survived far too long in a hostile world. It fits naturally into grimdark fantasy and post-apocalyptic wilderness warbands, serving as a wandering horror or a bonded beast of war. The Stormseed Crowler is a single large model, sold as a solo unit miniature.

The miniature is cast in high-detail grey resin, capturing every scale, hollow socket, and organic texture the sculptor intended. This piece comes from Haito's catalogue of creature designs, bringing a distinctive and inventive vision to the tabletop. It ships ready to paint straight from the package after a simple wash in warm soapy water to remove any residual release agent.

Painting Guide: Stormseed Crowler - Monster

The Stormseed Crowler rewards a layered, organic painting approach. Follow this guide to bring out its grotesque textures and imposing presence on the tabletop.

1. Prime

  • Spray with a grey or bone-white primer to preserve the fine surface detail across the hide and seed pods.
  • Ensure all recesses are covered by holding the can at multiple angles.

2. Armour Base

  • Apply a base coat of Rakarth Flesh or Ushabti Bone across the entire body for a weathered, bleached-bone tone.
  • Use a darker brown such as Rhinox Hide to basecoat the deepest recessed areas and underbelly plates.

3. Trim and Details

  • Highlight the dome-like seed pods with Pallid Wych Flesh, focusing on the upper curved surfaces to create a soft, smooth sheen.
  • Paint the eyes and socket rims in a deep amber or sickly yellow to suggest bioluminescence.

4. Weapons

  • Paint the gnarled branch-tail with Mournfang Brown, then drybrush Tyrant Skull over the ridges and tips to suggest dried, petrified wood.
  • Apply a thin coat of Agrax Earthshade into the crevices of the tail for depth.

5. Weathering

  • Wash the entire body with Agrax Earthshade or Reikland Fleshshade to unify the tones and push shadows into the scales and gaps between pods.
  • Drybrush the upper surfaces lightly with white or off-white to simulate sunbleached hide and add contrast.

6. Bases

  • Drybrush the rocky base with Administratum Grey over a Mechanicus Standard Grey undercoat, then add tufts of dead grass or cracked earth texture paste for a desolate wilderness feel.

This is an adult hobbyist collectible, not a toy. Not suitable for children under 14 years due to small, detailed parts.
