Rising from the ashen wastes of a dying galaxy, the Necrotek Iron Guard Squad stands as an unyielding wall of animated metal and ancient malice. These 15 models, measuring 33–38mm from feet to eyes, embody the relentless advance of a civilization that has transcended death itself. Each warrior is clad in segmented, layered battle-plate adorned with arcane circuitry, their forms wrapped in tattered cloak-like shrouds that billow around skeletal, mechanised limbs. Hollow, elongated faceplates stare forward with eerie, animalistic menace, part predator, part machine, entirely unstoppable.

The Iron Guard are designed for the front lines of the eternal war, serving as the backbone of any force demanding disciplined, resilient infantry. Their silhouettes are imposing and varied: some stride forward bearing massive circular war-shields etched with concentric ritual sigils, others brandish elongated blades and stave weapons held in multiple segmented limb-appendages. Tubular conduits and hoses coil across their torsos, channelling the dark energies that animate their undying frames. No two poses are alike, lending the squad a natural, battlefield-ready dynamism.

The Necrotek aesthetic runs deep in every component of these models. Biomechanical musculature blends seamlessly with hard angular armour panels, creating a visual tension between organic memory and cold mechanical function. The warriors carry themselves with a haunting, purposeful posture, neither rushed nor hesitant — as though death has granted them absolute patience and absolute certainty of victory.

Whether deployed as a shield wall anchoring an advance or as a flanking force scything through lighter opposition, the Iron Guard fulfil their role with grim efficiency. Five distinct weapon configurations are represented across the squad, ensuring tactical flexibility on any tabletop battlefield.

These are resin miniatures supplied unpainted and unassembled, designed for hobbyists who demand character, detail, and presence in every model they place on the table.

Painting Guide: Iron Guard Squad

The Iron Guard reward a methodical approach — deep shadows and sharp edge highlights will make their layered armour sing under tabletop lighting.

1. Prime

  • Prime with grey or black spray for a strong shadow base; grey works particularly well to pre-shade the layered armour plates.

2. Armour Base

  • Basecoat armour panels in a cold metallic such as Leadbelcher or Vallejo Gunmetal, or alternatively a bone-white such as Wraithbone for a bleached-undead look.
  • Edge highlight with Stormhost Silver or a light grey-white to pick out the sharp panel lines and pauldron rims.

3. Trim and Details

  • Pick out tubing, conduits and ritual circuitry in aged brass or verdigris bronze — Balthasar Gold followed by Nihilakh Oxide works beautifully.
  • Apply Nuln Oil or Agrax Earthshade into all recesses to deepen shadows and unify the metallic surfaces.

4. Weapons

  • Paint blades in dark iron or black steel; a sharp scratch-highlight of Runefang Steel along edges sells battle-worn lethality.
  • Optionally add a faint green or teal OSL glow emanating from conduit joints and eye lenses to evoke Necrotek energy fields.

5. Weathering

  • Stipple chipped paint and battle-damage using a torn blister foam and dark brown-black across armour edges.
  • Apply light dusty pigments — ochre or pale bone — to lower legs and shield faces to suggest desert tomb-world terrain.

6. Bases

  • Cracked arid wasteland bases using texture paste, dry-brushed with pale sand and Ushabti Bone, suit the desolate tomb-world theme perfectly; scattered metallic debris fragments add narrative detail.
