“He keeps the heads that stopped screaming last. The chain on his axe is older than most of the men who tried to run from it.”
Morkidd Drake The Terrorstorm arrives as a single physical resin miniature, standing approximately 42mm from feet to eyes, cast in clean grey resin with supports already removed and surfaces cleaned, ready to assemble and paint straight from the box. Supplied unpainted. The kit contains 2 parts, giving you a quick and satisfying build before you get straight into painting.
The miniature depicts a hulking Chaos Warlord in heavily corrupted power armour, scaled and battle-worn across every surface. His left hand clutches a severed head by the scalp, raised aloft as a grim trophy, while his right hand bears a skull-topped axe trailing a spiked chain. Daemonic talons erupt from a cybernetic gauntlet on his forearm, and corroded exhaust tubes coil across his back beneath a tattered, hole-ridden cloak. A crushed skull and a fallen enemy weapon lie beneath his boots on the scenic rubble base, reinforcing the sense of a warrior who leaves nothing standing. Sculpted by DakkaDakka, this piece carries the same dense layering of brutal detail and darkly characterful storytelling found throughout their wider range.
The figure is built in two parts: the main body and a separate left arm holding the trophy head. Assembly is straightforward and the join is clean, leaving you to focus your time on the paint job.
The 42mm scale gives Morkidd Drake a commanding presence on the tabletop, appropriate for a named warlord character or a centrepiece figure in any warband built around corrupted warriors and brutal conquest.
Painting Guide: Morkidd Drake The TerrorstormThe palette below leans into deep crimson armour, corroded metals, and sickly flesh tones to bring out the corrupted warlord character of this piece. Adjust any colour to suit your own warband scheme.
1. Prime
- Apply a black spray primer across the entire model for a deep, shadow-retaining base coat.
- Follow with a zenithal mist of grey from above to pre-shade raised surfaces before applying colour.
2. Armour Base
- Basecoat all armour plates with a deep burgundy red, building up two thin coats for solid coverage.
- Layer up highlights toward a brighter crimson on raised edges and protruding plates.
3. Trim and Details
- Paint all trim, belt buckle, and kneeguard details with a dark brass, then drybrush lightly with a brighter gold for edge definition.
- Pick out the scale-textured shoulder pauldron and cloak lining in a warm dark brown, washed with a deep sepia shade for depth in the recesses.
4. Weapons
- Basecoat the axe blade and chain in a dark iron grey, then drybrush with silver to bring out the sharp edges and chain links.
- Paint the skull on the axe top in off-white, wash with a brown shade, and highlight back up with bone white for a weathered bone finish.
5. Weathering
- Stipple rust and corrosion onto the exhaust tubes and lower armour plates using a sponge and a dark orange-brown mix.
- Apply edge chipping to the armour in dark brown followed by a fine silver line to simulate battle damage and worn paint.
6. Bases
- Drybrush the rubble base with mid-grey and then a lighter grey highlight, then apply a brown wash into the cracks and around the base of the skull for a grimy, war-torn ground effect.
This is an adult hobbyist collectible, not a toy. Not suitable for children under 14 years due to small, detailed parts.
