The following guide is designed for intermediate painters and covers the core colour zones on this miniature. Use thin, layered coats throughout for the best results on the fine detail work.

1. Prime

• Apply a zenithal prime using black from below and white or off-white from directly above to establish natural shading before any colour is applied.

2. Armour Base

• Basecoat the pauldrons and armour plates with a warm ivory or pale bone tone to reinforce the celestial theme.
• Apply a diluted brown wash into the recesses to define the engraved detail on each plate.

3. Trim and Details

• Pick out the horn headpieces and blade guard in a warm gold, highlighted up to bright brass at the edges.
• Paint the layered skirt panels in a deep cream or aged linen, using a fine brush to trace the floral embroidery pattern in a slightly darker shade.

4. Weapons

• Basecoat the broad sword blade in a mid-grey steel, then edge-highlight with bright silver along each face and tip.
• Glaze the flat of the blade with a very thin blue or pale purple tint to suggest an otherworldly sharpness.

5. Weathering
