The Minoan War Banners and Standard Bearer set brings ancient mythic power to the far-future battlefield, combining Greco-Minoan iconography with hulking sci-fi warrior aesthetics. Each Minoan War Banners and Standard piece is packed with intricate carved detail, from bull skull toppers and Greek key borders to Spartan helmet reliefs, owl motifs, Medusa faces, and labyrinth symbols. This is a hero-scale standard bearer miniature standing approximately 35-40mm tall, carrying a towering banner pole that extends well beyond his own height, making him a commanding centrepiece for any grimdark warband or ancient-themed sci-fi force.
The set includes a fully modular standard bearer body with separate head options, arm configurations, cape, sword, pistol, and a wide selection of interchangeable banner tops and banner faces. There are 9 large banner designs and 9 smaller banner variants, giving hobbyists enormous flexibility when building their perfect battle standard. The bearer wears heavily decorated power armour styled with muscle cuirass detailing and layered pauldrons, bridging the aesthetic gap between the ancient world and the far future with remarkable skill.
Every Minoan War Banners and Standard model in this set arrives as a physical resin miniature. Supports have already been removed and the parts have been cleaned and sanded where needed. Components arrive ready to assemble and paint straight away, with no additional preparation required beyond light dry-fitting and assembly with superglue.
This set suits collectors building ancient-inspired sci-fi warbands, standard bearer characters for narrative play, or display centrepieces. The sculpt quality and level of detail reward careful painting and make the finished model a true showpiece on any shelf or gaming table.
Painting Guide: Minoan War Banners and Standard Bearer - Sci-Fi Wargaming MiniaturesThe Minoan War Banners and Standard carry deep relief carving that responds brilliantly to contrast and wash techniques. Follow this guide to bring out the full character of the sculpt.
1. Prime
- Apply a grey or black spray primer in thin, even coats
- For brighter metallics, consider a light grey or white prime on the banner face areas
2. Armour Base
- Basecoat the power armour in a deep bronze or Retributor Armour equivalent for an ancient warrior feel
- Alternatively use a dark iron grey for a more industrial grimdark appearance
3. Trim and Details
- Pick out the Greek key borders and carved reliefs with a lighter gold or brass highlight using a fine detail brush
- Apply Agrax Earthshade or a brown wash into all recesses to define the carved iconography
4. Weapons
- Paint the sword blade in a cold steel tone, highlighting edges with Runefang Steel or equivalent
- Use a dark gunmetal for the pistol with a subtle rust wash on lower surfaces
5. Weathering
- Stipple chipping fluid or sponge dark brown and silver onto armour edges for battle wear
- Add streaking grime effects downward from banner rivets and carved details using a thin brown-grey wash
6. Bases
- Use sandy marble texture paste or cracked earth to evoke the ancient arenas visible in the background artwork
- Finish with a dry brush of bone white over the base texture and add a few small stones or tufts for depth
This is an adult hobbyist collectible, not a toy. Not suitable for children under 14 years due to small, detailed parts.
