Minoan Initiates are a squad of five heavily armoured sci-fi warriors, each sculpted with ornate Greek-key engravings and layered resin plate that evokes the ancient Aegean world reimagined in a far-future warzone. These physical resin miniatures arrive with supports already removed, cleaned, and ready to assemble and paint at 32mm scale.
Each figure in the squad carries a distinct loadout. Two warriors wield heavy automatic rifles braced at the hip, one bears a serrated chainblade alongside a sidearm, one raises a compact pistol in a firing stance, and the fifth aims a long-barrelled marksman rifle. This variety lets you field the Minoan Initiates as a flexible close-to-mid range strike team or assign specialist roles within a larger warband.
The armour design blends archaic ceremonial detail with brutal battlefield function. Shoulder plates carry repeating meander patterns, pteruges hang in layered strips from the waist, and exposed musculature on the bare heads gives each warrior a ferocious, larger-than-life presence. Squad poses are dynamic and purposeful, conveying momentum without being over-dramatic.
Minoan Initiates slot naturally into any grimdark sci-fi force that favours warrior-cult or ancient-civilisation aesthetics. Each model is cast in high-detail grey resin and scales well alongside other 32mm range miniatures from Atlan Forge.
Painting Guide: Minoan InitiatesThe unpainted grey resin surface shows every detail clearly, making these models rewarding to paint for hobbyists at any skill level. The following guide suggests a scheme that honours the Minoan aesthetic.
1. Prime
- Apply a thin, even coat of grey or white spray primer to capture the fine engravings on shoulder plates and waist pteruges.
- A zenithal highlight in white over a black base prime adds instant depth before any colour is applied.
2. Armour Base
- Base coat the plate armour in a warm bone or aged marble colour such as Vallejo Ivory or Citadel Rakarth Flesh.
- Layer up to a near-white highlight on raised edges to reinforce the stone-carved quality of the sculpt.
3. Trim and Details
- Paint the Greek-key engravings in a deep bronze or verdigris-touched gold using Citadel Retributor Armour followed by a Nihilakh Oxide wash in recesses.
- Pick out pteruges in a darker leather tone such as Vallejo Flat Brown to separate them visually from the main plate.
4. Weapons
- Basecoat rifle and blade bodies in Citadel Leadbelcher or a similar dark metallic grey.
- Wash with Nuln Oil and edge-highlight in bright silver to give a worn, utilitarian contrast against the ornate armour.
5. Weathering
- Apply a thin oil wash of raw umber across the whole model, wiping back highlights to leave grime in recesses.
- Stipple chipped paint effects on armour edges using a sponge torn from blister foam and a dark brown basecoat colour.
6. Bases
- Texture paste in a sandy ochre works well for an ancient-ruins feel. Add a few small pebbles and a tufts of dry grass for contrast.
This is an adult hobbyist collectible, not a toy. Not suitable for children under 14 years due to small, detailed parts.
