Miasma Corpse Engines are a squad of three colossal, plague-wracked war machines, each built around a bloated spherical hull bristling with corroded pipes, weeping vents, pitted armour panels, and a grotesque skull-faced hatch that glowers from the centre of the body like a death mask sealed in iron. Towering gothic spires, smoke-belching chimneys, and ornate baroque structures crown each engine, fusing the architecture of a rotting cathedral with the guts of a battlefield siege platform. Wide lateral arms extend from each hull, terminating in spinning blade fans, turbine housings, or festering weapon pods depending on the variant, while a mass of mechanical lower limbs, clad in layered industrial plate and trailing chains and hoses, carry each machine forward with grinding, relentless momentum.
The set contains three distinct variants (each approx 100mm+ high with a 60mm base), each sharing core components but offering a different silhouette and weapon loadout. Variant A carries wide circular blade fans and a pair of mechanical lower limbs with knuckled fists. Variant B mounts broad corroded petal-fan arms and carries chains, flails, and spiked maces at its base. Variant C is fitted with large turbine engine pods on each side and curved claw limbs dripping with tubing and segmented armour. Separate accessory pieces including additional weapons and decorative hanging elements allow for further customisation across all three.
Sculpted by Atlan Forge, these models arrive as physical resin miniatures with supports already removed, ready to assemble and paint. Each engine stands as an imposing centrepiece model at roughly 32mm scale, with detail coverage that rewards careful brushwork at every level.
Whether fielded as a trio of grinding siege engines or displayed as individual collection pieces, the Miasma Corpse Engines deliver the density and character that serious hobbyists expect from a large-scale resin kit.
Painting Guide: Miasma Corpse EnginesThese models reward a layered approach that emphasises rust, decay, and diseased organic detail against tarnished metalwork. The combination of mechanical and biological textures gives you strong contrast opportunities throughout.
1. Prime
- Prime with a grey or dark grey spray for a neutral base that suits both metal and flesh tones across the hull.
- A zenithal highlight in light grey or off-white over the top helps pre-shade the deep recesses before you begin painting.
2. Armour Base
- Base the hull panels in a dark, desaturated green such as Death World Forest or Castellan Green to evoke corroded iron.
- Wash deeply with a brown-black shade like Agrax Earthshade or Nuln Oil to settle into rivets, grooves, and panel lines.
3. Trim and Details
- Paint pipes, vents, and cylindrical housings in a dark bronze or verdigris copper to contrast the armoured panels.
- Apply a turquoise glaze selectively over the bronze areas to suggest oxidation and age.
4. Weapons
- Base the blade fans and turbine intakes in dark steel, then drybrush with Ironbreaker or Runefang Steel to pick up raised edges.
- Add streaks of orange-brown rust using a fine brush loaded with thinned Skrag Brown or Typhus Corrosion applied along edges and joints.
5. Weathering
- Stipple chipping onto flat armour panels using a torn blister foam and a mix of dark brown and black.
- Apply Nurgle's Rot or a gloss medium mixed with yellow-green paint to vents, skull openings, and any organic-looking surfaces to suggest oozing fluids.
6. Bases
- Use cracked earth texture paste or rubble to suggest a blighted, corrupted battlefield, and tie in the palette with a wash of the same green-brown shade used on the hull.
This is an adult hobbyist collectible, not a toy. Not suitable for children under 14 years due to small, detailed parts.
