Mad Hyenas Squad - 37mm Resin Miniatures

The Mad Hyenas Squad arrives as a set of ten physical resin miniatures, each standing 37mm from feet to eyes, cast in clean grey resin with supports already removed and surfaces cleaned, ready to assemble and paint straight from the box. Supplied unpainted.

These are ferocious tribal warriors drawn from the brutal fringe of a war-ravaged world, sculpted with the wild, savage energy of fighters who live and die by the blade. Each figure is laden with studded armour plates, ragged cloth wrappings, and an arsenal of brutal close-combat weapons including chainblades, heavy axes, and blunt crushing mauls. The squad includes nine infantry fighters in varied dynamic poses alongside one larger, dominant champion figure who towers over the rest, chains and skull trophies hanging from his belt. A standard bearer and a spiked-crown shaman-type figure round out the roster, giving the unit strong visual hierarchy on the tabletop.

Sculpted by DakkaDakka, every figure in the set has been crafted with deep surface texture, crisp facial detail, and purposeful, aggressive silhouettes that photograph and paint exceptionally well.

The Mad Hyenas Squad is a strong centrepiece unit for any warband-scale collection, and the variety of weapon loadouts and body types across the ten models keeps each one feeling distinct on the shelf or the battlefield.

The raw grey resin provides excellent surface detail for layering and contrast techniques. The following approach leans into a grimdark, barbaric warband aesthetic with rusted metal, worn leather, and battle-stained skin.

1. Prime

• Apply a grey or black spray primer for maximum shadow retention in recesses
• A zenithal highlight of white or light grey from above helps pre-shade complex areas like the layered armour plates

2. Armour Base

• Basecoat armour panels in a dark steel grey such as Leadbelcher or Dark Reaper
• Block in leather straps and cloth wrappings in a deep brown such as Rhinox Hide or Doombull Brown

3. Trim and Details

• Paint skull trophies, chains, and bone ornaments in Ushabti Bone, then shade with Agrax Earthshade
• Pick out belt buckles, rivets, and studs in a bright gold or brass tone and wash immediately with Reikland Fleshshade

4. Weapons

• Basecoat chainblade teeth and axe edges in Ironbreaker and drybrush lightly with Stormhost Silver for edge wear
• Add thin streaks of Carroburg Crimson or thinned red contrast paint toward blade tips to suggest dried blood

5. Weathering

• Stipple Typhus Corrosion onto flat armour surfaces, then drybrush over it with Ryza Rust for a chipped, corroded finish
• Apply thinned Nuln Oil Gloss into all deep recesses to unify and deepen shadows across the whole model

6. Bases

• Texture paste in a brown rubble or cracked earth colour, drybrushed up through two tones, finishes the bases cleanly and keeps visual focus on the figures above
