The Templar Paladin Squad arrives as a set of five heavily armoured sci-fi warrior miniatures, each forged in high-detail resin and ready to lead the faithful into the darkest corners of a dying galaxy. Clad in ornate crusader plate layered over chain vestments, these warriors carry the marks of a holy order sworn to purge all heresy at any cost. Every figure in the Templar Paladin Squad bears intricate iconography including Maltese crosses, devotional scripture etched into blades, and layered pauldrons crowded with sacred symbols. Swords, maces, pistols, and ceremonial relics fill each warrior's hands, making them equally at home in close-quarters brutality or standing as centrepiece command units on the battlefield table.
Scaled at approximately 32mm heroic scale, these miniatures are supplied as physical resin casts with supports already removed and surfaces cleaned, so they arrive ready to assemble and paint straight from the box. The squad features five unique sculpts with varied weapon loadouts and dynamic poses, giving painters and wargamers a full range of characterful figures to work with. The level of surface detail rewards careful brushwork and makes highlighting and shading deeply satisfying at any skill level.
The Templar Paladin Squad is produced by Atlan Forge, a sculptor known for fusing medieval crusader aesthetics with grimdark science fiction. Whether fielded as elite veterans, chapter champions, or warrior-priests in your chosen ruleset, these models carry an unmistakable presence on any gaming table. They integrate naturally into larger gothic sci-fi forces and pair well with other Atlan Forge releases themed around martial holy orders.
Each squad is packaged securely with foam padding to protect fine details during transit. Assembly may require plastic-compatible super glue for any multi-part components. Painting and basing materials are not included.
Painting Guide: Templar Paladin Squad - Templar Sci-Fi Warrior MiniaturesThe grimdark crusader palette works best when heavy armour reads as ancient and worn but still carries the weight of sacred authority. Begin with a solid prime coat and build up from dark midtones to sharp edge highlights.
1. Prime
- Apply a grey or black spray primer evenly across all surfaces and allow to cure fully before painting.
- A light grey zenithal pass from above adds natural pre-shading that speeds up later highlight stages.
2. Armour Base
- Basecoat all plate armour with a deep charcoal grey or cold black, such as Abaddon Black or Dark Reaper.
- Layer up with a mid-grey, keeping highlights tight to raised edges of pauldrons, knee plates, and chest symbols.
3. Trim and Details
- Paint all cross emblems, scrollwork, and ceremonial borders in a warm gold such as Retributor Armour, then shade with Agrax Earthshade for depth.
- Edge highlight the gold trim lightly with Liberator Gold or Auric Armour Gold to pick out fine relief details.
4. Weapons
- Paint sword blades and mace heads in a dark steel such as Leadbelcher, then apply Nuln Oil into recesses.
- Edge the blades with Stormhost Silver for a sharp, lethal finish that contrasts well against the dark armour.
5. Weathering
- Stipple thinned Rhinox Hide or Typhus Corrosion onto lower armour plates and boot edges to simulate campaign grime and battle wear.
- Add fine scratches to pauldrons and knee plates using a torn blister foam and Leadbelcher for a chipped metal effect.
6. Bases
- Texture paste or cork rubble painted in dark stone tones with a dry-brushed highlight of Administratum Grey suits the gothic battlefield setting these warriors inhabit.
