The following guide is written for intermediate painters working in acrylics, though the steps adapt easily to any hobby paint range.

1. Prime

• Apply a grey or off-white spray primer to preserve the fine surface detail across the armour plates and skull trophies.
• Check recesses around the belt and cloak folds are fully covered before proceeding.

2. Armour Base

• Basecoat the plate armour in a deep iron or gunmetal grey, working carefully around the leather and cloth areas.
• Apply a flat mid-brown to the leather strapping, belt, and boot wraps to separate them visually from the metal plates.

3. Trim and Details

• Pick out the skull motifs on the armour in a bone white, building up from a mid-tan base through increasingly pale highlights.
• Paint the horned trophy rack in a weathered ivory tone, adding thin brown washes into the ridges to suggest age and wear.

4. Weapons

• Basecoat the curved blades in a bright steel tone, then apply a dark wash to define the fuller and edge geometry.

5. Weathering
