The Holy Department of Heretical Investigations arrives as a complete physical resin miniature warband, ready to assemble and paint straight out of the box. This squad of eleven highly detailed 32mm scale operatives captures the grim authority of an inquisitorial strike force, each figure bristling with iconic sci-fi weaponry, layered robes, and arcane equipment that speaks to centuries of zealous service.
The Holy Department of Heretical Investigations warband includes a diverse roster of specialists: hooded acolytes bearing ornate staves and reliquaries, a hulking armoured enforcer with a rotary weapon, robed interrogators armed with pistols and chain weapons, a towering psykana adept surrounded by floating tomes and ritual flame, and a mysterious banner carrier bearing a sacred icon into battle. Each miniature is cast in high-quality grey resin, supports already removed and surfaces cleaned, so hobbyists can move straight to assembly and painting without any prep work.
Sculpted at 28mm foot-to-eye (approximately 32mm to the top of helmets or headgear), these miniatures are compatible with most popular sci-fi skirmish and wargaming systems. The level of detail is exceptional, from individual purity seals pressed into armour plates to the folds of weathered robes and the mechanical components of cybernetic augmentations. Whether you are building a narrative kill team, a skirmish retinue, or a display warband, this set delivers outstanding visual impact on the tabletop.
Each miniature ships individually based on a round display base. Minor flash or mould lines may be present and can be removed with a hobby knife before painting. Superglue is recommended for assembly of any multi-part figures in the set.
Painting Guide: Holy Department of Heretical Investigations Sci-Fi MiniaturesThis guide will help you bring the Holy Department of Heretical Investigations to life with a cold, austere grimdark palette suited to a secretive inquisitorial warband.
1. Prime
- Apply a thin, even coat of grey or black spray primer to all miniatures and allow to cure fully before painting.
2. Armour Base
- Basecoat armoured plates in a dark grey or off-white to suggest aged ceramite or heavy-duty plating.
- Apply a mid-tone layer highlight to raised edges using a lighter grey or bone tone for contrast.
3. Trim and Details
- Paint trim, clasps, and decorative reliefs in a muted gold or aged brass to suggest sacred authority and heraldic rank.
- Pick out purity seals, scrolls, and script in pale parchment, then shade with a diluted brown wash for an aged manuscript effect.
4. Weapons
- Basecoat gun casings and chain weapon housings in a dark metallic or gunmetal grey, then dry-brush with bright silver for a worn finish.
- Paint energy coils, staves, and psykana artefacts in deep blue or cold white, adding a thin glaze of turquoise to suggest unearthly power.
5. Weathering
- Apply a dark brown or black wash over all recesses to deepen shadows and add grime to robes and armour alike.
- Use a fine brush to stipple chipping fluid or dark grey onto armour edges to simulate hard use and battle damage.
6. Bases
- Texture bases with fine grey sand or urban rubble paste, paint in dark stone tones, and add a spot colour such as dried blood red or pale moss green to tie the squad together visually on the tabletop.
