Forgotten Champions brings you Hanae, a battle-hardened samurai mercenary who kneels in quiet defiance, her naginata held low and her gaze locked on whatever dares to stand against her. Sculpted by Haito, this 32mm scale resin miniature captures the tension of a warrior at rest, coiled and ready to strike with lethal precision.

Hanae is a lone blade for hire, carrying no allegiance beyond coin and honour. Her flowing robes are richly detailed with intricate knotwork patterns, her rope obi cinched tight around her waist, and a fearsome oni mask resting at her shoulder like a silent sentinel. Every surface rewards close attention, from the folds of her wide sleeves to the textured stone rubble of her scenic base.

This squad of 1 is ideal for skirmish wargames, narrative campaigns, or display painting projects where Forgotten Champions miniatures shine brightest. Whether fielded as a wandering blade or a mysterious enforcer, Hanae adds immediate character and threat to any warband roster.

Supplied as a single high-detail resin miniature. Assembly and painting required. Resin may require light cleaning before assembly. Suitable for painters of all skill levels.

Painting Guide: Hanae - Samurai

Hanae rewards a restrained, earthy palette inspired by feudal aesthetics, with ink washes doing the heavy lifting across her ornate robes. This Forgotten Champions centrepiece looks stunning in a limited colour scheme with one bold accent.

1. Prime

  • Prime with a neutral grey or warm bone spray to preserve the fine surface detail across her robes and face

2. Armour Base

  • Base her robes in a warm off-white or aged linen tone
  • Apply a sepia or brown wash across all robe panels to deepen the knotwork detail

3. Trim and Details

  • Pick out the rope obi in a natural hemp or ochre tone, drybrushed lightly to highlight the braid texture
  • Paint the oni mask in a deep terracotta or aged ivory, with hollow eyes picked out in dark grey

4. Weapons

  • Basecoat the naginata pole in a dark walnut brown, drybrushed with a lighter wood tone
  • Paint the blade in a cool steel, then apply a thin glaze of blue-grey for a tempered finish

5. Weathering

  • Add fine scratches to the blade edge using a silver pencil or careful edge highlight
  • Stipple diluted brown ink at the hem of her robes and around her knees to suggest travel and conflict

6. Bases

  • Drybrush the rocky base in progressively lighter stone tones, finishing with a near-white highlight on raised edges, then seal with a matte varnish to protect all Forgotten Champions detail work
