Hades Demon Riders - Sci-Fi Wargaming Miniatures

The Hades Demon Riders are a ferocious squad of armoured warriors mounted atop cybernetically enhanced predator lizards, built for brutal close-quarters assault and high-speed flanking manoeuvres across war-torn battlefields. Each rider is clad in heavy spiked power armour and carries a variety of ranged and melee weapons, from brutal chainswords to rapid-fire assault guns, giving the unit terrifying tactical versatility. The Hades Demon Riders arrive as physical resin miniatures, supports already removed and surfaces cleaned, ready for assembly and painting straight out of the packaging.

This set contains three mounted miniatures, each rider and mount sculpted with extraordinary detail. The predator mounts feature armoured plating riveted across their flanks, exposed fanged maws locked in a permanent snarl, and spiked dorsal ridges that give them a savage, otherworldly silhouette. The riders sit atop purpose-built saddle rigs fitted with weapon hardpoints and ammunition feeds. Each model stands approximately 40mm to the top of the rider at the shoulder, scaled for standard 28-32mm compatible wargaming systems. The oval bases included measure approximately 60x35mm, consistent with cavalry-scale units in most popular rulesets.

These miniatures are ideal for players who want a fast attack cavalry unit with genuine visual menace on the tabletop. The sculpts are rich with grimdark sci-fi character. The following guide is designed to help you bring your Hades Demon Riders to life with a grimdark, battle-worn appearance suited to their savage nature.

1. Prime

• Apply a black spray primer evenly across the entire model to establish a dark basecoat and improve paint adhesion across all surfaces.

2. Armour Base

• Basecoat the armour plates with a dark iron or gunmetal grey, such as Leadbelcher or equivalent, using a large drybrush for speed across large armour panels.
• Basecoat the lizard mount skin with a deep olive green or dark brown, applied in thin layers to preserve surface texture.

3. Trim and Details

• Pick out spiked trim, chains, and skull iconography with a brassy gold or oxidised bronze to create contrast against the dark armour.
• Apply a sepia or agrax wash over all metallic surfaces to pull out recesses and add instant depth and age to the model.

4. Weapons

• Paint gun barrels and blades with a bright silver highlight, applied sparingly to leading edges only, to suggest a recently sharpened or frequently used weapon.
• Add a faint OSL glow in sickly green or toxic orange around muzzles or energy components to reinforce a sci-fi feel.

5. Weathering

• Stipple on chipping using a torn piece of blister foam loaded with dark brown, then a light silver on top, focused on armour edges, knees, and weapon grips.
• Add streaking grime effects using a thin brown wash drawn vertically down flat armour surfaces to suggest oil, rust run-off, or filth from the battlefield.

6. Bases

• Texture the base with volcanic ash paste or a mix of fine grit and black paint, then drybrush with pale ash grey and add cracked earth texture paint to reflect an infernal or war-ravaged landscape matching the promotional imagery.
