The Great Vortex Legion APC arrives as a single physical resin miniature, measuring approximately 125.5mm long, 72.1mm wide and 65.9mm tall, cast in clean grey resin with supports already removed and surfaces cleaned, ready to assemble and paint straight from the box. Supplied unpainted. The kit contains 21 parts, giving you a rewarding build with meaningful assembly that benefits from careful dry-fitting before gluing.

This is a armoured personnel carrier drawn from the brutal, battle-hardened ranks of a Vortex battle squad, sculpted with the savage, mutated energy that defines the Great Vortex range. The hull is covered in dense skull-relief panels, heavy riveted plating and gothic chain adornments. The roof mounts a multi-tube rocket launcher, and the side panels offer interchangeable door variants decorated with stacked skull iconography or plain ceremonial panels. Exhaust columns, a pintle weapon, and corner armour segments complete the aggressive silhouette.

Designed by DakkaDakka, this vehicle sits perfectly alongside the wider Great Vortex Legion range and works as a transport, objective marker or centrepiece for an armoured force on the tabletop.

All components fit cleanly and are sized for 28mm to 32mm compatible wargaming systems.

Painting Guide: Great Vortex Legion APC

The render shows a deep crimson and aged brass scheme with heavy skull detailing, dark metal panels and glowing yellow lens accents. The guide below follows that approach and can be adapted to any warband colour palette.

1. Prime

  • Apply a grey or black primer in thin, even coats across all 21 parts before assembly to reach recesses cleanly.

2. Armour Base

  • Base coat all hull panels in a deep red such as Mephiston Red or equivalent.
  • Apply a second pass of a slightly lighter red, such as Evil Sunz Scarlet, to raised surfaces for initial contrast.

3. Trim and Details

  • Paint all border trim and relief frames with a dark brass or Retributor Armour tone, shading with Agrax Earthshade to push depth into the recesses.
  • Pick out the skull relief panels in Rakarth Flesh, washed with Reikland Fleshshade, then dry-brushed lightly with Pallid Wych Flesh for a bone tone.

4. Weapons

  • Basecoat the rocket launcher and pintle weapon in Dark Reaper or Mechanicus Standard Grey.
  • Highlight raised edges with Dawnstone and gloss the lens or sensor details in Yriel Yellow.

5. Weathering

  • Apply Typhus Corrosion to the lower hull, track sections and panel edges to build up grime and rust.
  • Use a silver such as Leadbelcher dry-brushed lightly over track links and worn armour corners for scuffed metal.

6. Bases

  • As a vehicle the APC typically sits directly on a gaming surface, but if basing on a display plinth, texture paste in ash grey or rubble tones with a dark brown wash suits the corrupted aesthetic well.

This is an adult hobbyist collectible, not a toy. Not suitable for children under 14 years due to small, detailed parts.
