Gothic Sci-Fi design defines this stunning set of Anchorite Webstriders, a squad of nine highly detailed resin miniatures crafted for grimdark tabletop wargaming. Each figure stands approximately 31mm from feet to eyes, giving them an imposing presence on the battlefield alongside standard 28-32mm scale forces. These warriors blend lithe, swift silhouettes with ornate armour panels, swept-back crests, and savage bladed weapons that speak to a proud and ancient martial culture operating far beyond the edge of civilised space.
The squad of nine includes a variety of weapon loadouts and dynamic poses. Several warriors carry long-barrelled rapid-fire weapons held in aggressive firing stances, while others wield paired hooked blades and move with predatory energy. Two hero-scale models feature elaborate flowing capes sculpted mid-billow, raised scenic bases, and extended winglike crest ornaments that mark them as leaders or champions within the warband. A single ornate totem or icon bearer rounds out the set, providing a banner-style objective or objective marker piece. Every sculpt captures motion and aggression in equal measure.
Each miniature arrives as a physical resin cast, supports already removed and surfaces cleaned. Parts are ready to assemble where applicable and require no further preparation before priming. The level of surface detail across armour plates, textured fabrics, and weapon housings rewards careful brush work and makes these models a strong centrepiece for any Gothic Sci-Fi collection.
Sculpted by DakkaDakka, these Anchorite Webstriders are compatible with most 32mm oval and round bases and suit skirmish games, kill-team style formats, and larger rank-and-flank systems alike.
Painting Guide: Gothic Sci-Fi Space Elf Warriors - Anchorite WebstridersThe following guide is aimed at intermediate painters looking to achieve a striking Gothic Sci-Fi aesthetic with strong contrast and fine edge highlights across these detailed resin miniatures.
1. Prime
- Apply a zenithal prime using black from below and light grey from above at roughly 45 degrees to establish natural shadows before any colour is applied.
2. Armour Base
- Base coat armour plates in a deep midnight blue or cold dark purple for a sinister, void-born feel.
- Apply a thin coat of a slightly lighter tone to raised panels to begin building contrast before washing.
3. Trim and Details
- Pick out armour trim, crest ornaments, and blade spines in a pale bone or aged gold to echo ancient craftsmanship.
- Use a targeted brown or sepia wash into recesses to add depth and separate the trim from the armour plates cleanly.
4. Weapons
- Paint bladed weapons in a cold steel, then apply a thin purple or blue glaze to suggest a supernatural edge.
- Highlight gun barrels and housings with a brighter silver along leading edges to suggest worn metal under hard use.
5. Weathering
- Add fine chips and scratches to armour edges using a small sponge or fine detail brush loaded with a dark grey-brown mix.
- Apply a subtle dust or grime effect around boot and leg areas using a dry pigment or stippled ochre paint to ground the models visually.
6. Bases
- Paint the scenic bases in cracked grey stone or dark volcanic rock tones, then add a gloss medium to any pooling areas to suggest residual energy or fluid for a cinematic finish.
This is an adult hobbyist collectible, not a toy. Not suitable for children under 14 years due to small, detailed parts.
