Dragon Knights Veterans are a fearsome breed of heavily armoured warriors, standing approximately 32mm tall and bristling with dragon-themed regalia that demands attention on any wargaming table. Each figure in this set arrives as a physical resin miniature, supports already removed, cleaned, and ready to assemble and paint. The level of sculpted detail is exceptional, from the interlocking scale-textured armour plates to the elaborate dragon motifs carved across every shield and pauldron.
This squad features two distinct load-out variants. The first variant wields a towering, ornate war hammer and carries a large kite shield embossed with a winged dragon relief, conveying brute authority and unyielding defence. The second variant raises a dragon-headed heavy weapon in a commanding point-and-fire stance, shield held at the ready. Both sculpts share matching dragon-crested helms, layered scale greaves, and heavily detailed chest armour, making them cohesive as a veteran unit while offering visual variety in pose and weaponry. The squad count visible across the promotional renders suggests a two-figure veteran set, perfect for elite battlefield roles.
Dragon Knights Veterans are designed for adult hobbyists who demand character-rich models worthy of a centrepiece position. The resin captures fine surface textures at a level that rewards careful painting, and the crisp edges on shield engravings and armour trim make techniques such as drybrushing and edge highlighting particularly effective. These models are compatible with most 28-32mm scale sci-fi and grimdark wargaming systems.
Each miniature is cast in high-quality grey resin and ships securely packaged to protect fine details in transit. Assembly may be required depending on configuration. Bases are included as shown.
Painting Guide: Dragon Knights Veterans - Sci-Fi Wargaming MiniaturesFollow this step-by-step guide to bring your Dragon Knights Veterans to life with a grimdark, battle-worn finish that honours every detail of the sculpt.
1. Prime
- Apply a thin, even coat of grey or black spray primer across all surfaces, ensuring coverage inside recesses and behind the shield.
- Allow to cure fully before moving to basecoating, ideally leaving the models for at least one hour in a dust-free area.
2. Armour Base
- Basecoat the armour plates with a deep charcoal or dark iron tone using a large flat brush.
- Apply a secondary basecoat of dark green or midnight teal to panel sections for a faction-appropriate contrast against the metallic trim.
3. Trim and Details
- Pick out all raised trim, dragon relief carvings, and pauldron edging with a bright gold or burnished brass, using a fine detail brush.
- Layer a warm copper highlight over prominent ridges to enhance the sense of depth across the elaborate engravings.
4. Weapons
- Paint the war hammer head with a dark steel basecoat, then drybrush a lighter silver across striking faces and edges to simulate wear.
- For the dragon-headed heavy weapon, apply a bone or off-white tone to the dragon skull element, then wash with sepia for aged depth.
5. Weathering
- Apply a dark brown or black wash across all recesses to push depth into the scale textures and shield reliefs.
- Use a sponge or stippling brush to add chipping effects along armour edges with a mid-grey tone, conveying hard campaign use.
6. Bases
- Texture the base with a mix of fine grit and PVA, then paint in a scorched earth or volcanic rock palette to complement the grimdark aesthetic of the Dragon Knights Veterans.
This is an adult hobbyist collectible, not a toy. Not suitable for children under 14 years due to small, detailed parts.
