Coven of the Black Woods - Bases Set 2 brings eleven hauntingly detailed resin bases to your collection, each one dripping with the atmosphere of a cursed forest realm. These physical resin miniature bases arrive fully printed, supports already removed, and cleaned and ready for paint. The set includes a varied selection of scenic bases ranging from approximately 25mm to 50mm in diameter, each sculpted with extraordinary depth. Motifs include skulls rising from cracked earth, twisted dead trees, ancient gravestones, bound wooden bundles, fungi clusters, buried figures, mysterious eggs, arcane totems and more.
Every base in this Coven of the Black Woods set tells its own grim story. The organic details are crisp and well-defined, allowing washes and drybrushing to settle naturally into crevices for fast, satisfying results. The varied sizes in the set make it suitable for infantry, heroes, and small monster models alike. Whether you are building a themed warband or adding narrative depth to an existing force, these bases offer immediate character without requiring scratch building or conversion work.
Each base is cast in grey resin and ships in a secure padded package. The set contains eleven individual bases, all unique sculpts. No two are the same, giving your models a natural, lived-in look across the whole unit. This is a physical product. No printing equipment or files are needed. Simply receive, paint, and attach your models.
Painting Guide: Coven of the Black Woods - Bases Set 2These bases reward a patient, layered approach. Start dark and build upward with controlled highlights and selective spot colour to bring out the sinister woodland atmosphere of the Coven of the Black Woods aesthetic.
1. Prime
- Prime all bases with a black or dark grey spray primer for maximum shadow retention in deep recesses.
- Allow to cure fully before handling, at least one hour in a warm, dry environment.
2. Armour Base
- Basecoat all soil and stone areas with a mid-brown or cold grey, applied by brush or airbrush.
- Apply a second, lighter basecoat to raised ground texture to begin establishing depth early.
3. Trim and Details
- Paint skulls and bones with off-white or pale ivory, keeping coverage thin so black undercoat still influences the tone.
- Basecoat wooden elements such as logs and stakes in a warm dark brown before adding grain detail.
4. Weapons
- Paint any arcane totems or carved symbols in aged gold or verdigris green to suggest ancient metal.
- Use a fine detail brush to pick out rune marks and carved glyphs with a pale cream or faint blue.
5. Weathering
- Apply a dark brown or black wash over all earth and stone surfaces, letting it pool in cracks and joints.
- Drybrush lightly with pale bone over skulls and raised rocky edges to lift detail and add age.
6. Bases
- Add a subtle green or teal glaze to any fungal growths or foliage to give them an eerie bioluminescent glow.
- Seal with a matte varnish to protect the finish, then add a gloss spot varnish to eyes, slime, or wet-looking surfaces for contrast.
This is an adult hobbyist collectible, not a toy. Not suitable for children under 14 years due to small, detailed parts.
