The Asgardian War Banners and Standard Bearer set brings brutal northern majesty to your grimdark sci-fi warband. This physical resin miniature arrives with supports already removed, cleaned, and ready to assemble and paint. The set includes a heavily armoured standard bearer clad in runic plate, wielding a ceremonial axe, alongside two interchangeable banner options. The first banner features wolf pelts, carved runes, and a sunwheel symbol. The second displays a rampant lion heraldry with serpent finials and Celtic knotwork trim. Both banners are richly detailed and tower impressively above the bearer.
The Asgardian War Banners and Standard are crafted with exceptional surface detail. Runic inscriptions ring the banner face, wolf skulls snarl from the crossbar, and the bearer's armour is layered with fur trim, knotwork engravings, and a horned visor helm. The model stands approximately 35-40mm to the top of the helm, with the full banner assembly reaching around 80-90mm in total height. It is supplied on a round display base and requires minimal assembly before painting.
Whether you are building a display piece or adding a command element to your forces, the Asgardian War Banners and Standard Bearer delivers a centrepiece-worthy focal point. The sculpt captures the savage grandeur of a frost-world warrior-priest carrying his clan's honour into the void between stars. Compatible with standard 32mm or 40mm round bases for wargaming use.
Sculpted with sharp detail and clean transitions across all armour panels, fur textures, and rune carvings, this model rewards careful painting and will stand out in any collection or competitive army display.
Painting Guide: Asgardian War Banners and Standard Bearer - Sci-FiThis guide is designed for intermediate painters looking to bring out the full character of this arctic warrior and his towering heraldic standards.
1. Prime
- Apply a grey or white primer to ensure rune details and fur textures read clearly under thin paint layers.
2. Armour Base
- Basecoat armour panels in a cold steel grey such as Mechanicus Standard Grey or Iron Hands Steel.
- Add a dark wash of Nuln Oil into all recesses to define the engraved knotwork and panel edges.
3. Trim and Details
- Pick out rune borders and decorative trim with a warm gold or bronze, then shade with Agrax Earthshade for an aged look.
- Paint fur pelts with a mid-brown base, dry-brush with Ushabti Bone, and finish with a light cream highlight at the tips.
4. Weapons
- Basecoat the axe blade in a dark metallic and layer up to a bright edge highlight along the blade.
- Add freehand or contrast-painted runes to the axe head in a pale blue or pale gold to suggest power or frost enchantment.
5. Weathering
- Apply thin streaks of Agrax Earthshade or Typhus Corrosion along lower armour edges to suggest mud and campaign wear.
- Drybrush the banner surface lightly with Administratum Grey to simulate worn, travel-battered cloth or stone carvings.
6. Bases
- Texture the base with ice paste or cracked tundra basing material, paint in pale blue-grey tones, and finish with a gloss varnish in recesses to suggest frozen water or permafrost ice.
