The Asgardian Commander strides onto the battlefield as a towering figure of myth and iron, clad in brutalist power armour etched with Celtic knotwork, runic sigils, and the pelts of fallen beasts. This physical resin miniature arrives with supports already removed, cleaned, and ready to assemble and paint. The set includes the commander himself, adorned with antler trophies and wolf-skull pauldrons, alongside a formidable war-beast companion with runic markings carved into its thick hide. Both figures stand on a detailed circular base featuring an Elder Futhark rune border and a central Valknut symbol, adding immediate narrative weight to your force.
The sculpt blends grimdark science fiction with ancient Norse mythology. The commander carries a serrated chain-blade at his side and wields a heavy bolt pistol, while his armour bears triskelion emblems and layered fur detailing across chest and thighs. The war-beast stands at roughly 40mm to the shoulder, while the commander himself reaches approximately 50mm in height, making this a striking centrepiece model for any Norse-inspired sci-fi warband or commander slot.
The Asgardian Commander is ideal for use as a warlord, chapter master, or named hero in narrative and competitive wargaming alike. The companion beast can serve as a familiar, bonded creature, or separate unit depending on your game system. Cast in high-resolution grey resin, every surface rewards careful attention with a brush, from the layered fur texture to the micro-engraved rune panels across the armour plates.
This model is a two-piece assembly: commander and war-beast are separate for easier painting access. Standard superglue is sufficient for joining. No additional materials are required beyond hobby glue, paint, and basing supplies of your choice.
Painting Guide: Asgardian Commander - Sci-Fi Wargaming MiniaturesThis guide is designed to help you bring your Asgardian Commander to life with a cold, frost-bitten Nordic palette that suits the grimdark tone of the sculpt.
1. Prime
- Apply a light grey or white primer from a spray can or airbrush to ensure good adhesion across all surfaces, including recessed fur and fine rune details.
2. Armour Base
- Base coat the armour plates in a deep steel grey such as Mechanicus Standard Grey or equivalent.
- Layer up to a lighter blue-grey tone on raised surfaces to suggest cold, frost-worn metal.
3. Trim and Details
- Pick out the Celtic knotwork, rune panels, and triskelion emblems in a warm brass or aged gold to contrast against the cool armour.
- Use a fine detail brush to edge-highlight these elements in bright gold or silver for definition.
4. Weapons
- Paint the chain-blade teeth in polished silver, then apply a thin coat of brown wash into the recesses to suggest old blood and grime.
- For the bolt pistol, use dark iron tones with subtle edge highlights and a spot of orange-red OSL near the muzzle if desired.
5. Weathering
- Apply a dark brown and black wash across all recesses on the armour to deepen the grimdark feel.
- Drybrush the highest armour edges lightly with a pale silver or off-white to suggest frost and battle wear.
6. Bases
- Paint the rune base in stone grey, wash with dark grey, then drybrush lightly in white. Add tufts of dead grass or snow flock to complete the frozen tundra setting.
This is an adult hobbyist collectible, not a toy. Not suitable for children under 14 years due to small, detailed parts.
