Wai Toa Bikers - 32mm Resin Miniatures

The Wai Toa Bikers are a squad of three heavily armed cavalry riders, each one mounted on a broad, spike-studded war bike bristling with bolted armour plates, underslung weapons, and the kind of brutal forward mass that makes them look dangerous even standing still. These are riders built for shock assault: low, wide, and aggressive in silhouette, with oversized wheels ringed in jagged teeth and flanks packed with gun mounts and exhaust housings that suggest raw, unstoppable momentum.

Each rider in the squad carries distinct equipment, allowing you to build a varied unit straight from the box. Weapon options include a serrated power blade raised high, a braced ranged weapon levelled at the target, and a compact sidearm variant for the third rider. The bike bodies share a unified shark-inspired design language, with gill-slash vents cut into the fairing, fang-like protrusions along the front wheel guard, and a dorsal fin rising from the rear cowl. Helmet and torso options provided across the kit give each rider a slightly different character while the squad reads as a cohesive formation on the table.

Sculpted by Atlan Forge, this kit ships as physical resin miniatures, supports already removed, ready to assemble and paint. The squad comes in at 32mm scale. Oval bases with a rubble texture are included for all three riders.

These bikes suit a grey and bone colour scheme with tarnished silver trim, leaning into a weathered, ocean-predator aesthetic. The guide below walks through a practical approach from primer to finished base.

1. Prime

• Prime with a mid-grey spray from above to establish a natural zenithal highlight before any colour is applied.
• A light pass of white from directly above will sharpen the raised edges and panel lines without losing shadow depth.

2. Armour Base

• Basecoat the armour panels in a dark blue-grey such as Mechanicus Standard Grey or equivalent, applied thinly over the primer to let the zenithal show through.
• Wash the recesses with a dark blue-black wash, Nuln Oil or a similar product, to deepen the panel lines and undersides of the fairing.

3. Trim and Details

• Pick out bolts, rivets, and raised trim in a tarnished silver. Leadbelcher or a similar metallic works well as a base, then shade with a brown wash to age the metal.
• Bone or pale ivory works for any skull ornaments or fang details on the fairing. Build up from a cream base to off-white highlights at the tips.

4. Weapons

• Metallic blades benefit from a dark basecoat followed by edge highlighting in bright silver to suggest a honed, well-used edge.
• Gun barrels and muzzles can be darkened with a soot effect at the tip using thinned black paint or a dry-brushed dark grey, implying heavy use.

5. Weathering

• Chipping effects on the armour panels can be applied with a small piece of blister foam, stippling on a mid-brown followed by bright silver, to simulate paint worn away at impact points.
• Streaking grime applied vertically from panel joins and exhaust ports adds realism and breaks up flat surfaces across the large bike bodies.

6. Bases

• Drybrush the rubble texture bases from dark grey up through pale stone, finishing with a light dust-coloured final pass. Edge the base rim in a flat black or dark brown to frame the finished model.
