Trench Crusade Style miniatures bring the grim horror of industrial holy war to your tabletop, and the Verdigo Inquisitorial Shield and MachineGun set delivers that atmosphere in outstanding detail. This listing includes 2 physical resin miniatures, sculpted by DakkaDakka, each measuring 37mm from feet to eyes. Supports have already been removed and the models have been cleaned and sanded where needed, arriving ready to assemble and paint.
These stocky, gas-masked warriors are clad in heavy riveted plate armour adorned with iron crosses and devotional relics. One model carries a large round shield and a compact automatic weapon, while the second variant is equipped with an axe arm option and a separate weapon hand for flexible assembly. Both figures feature a distinctive conical helm, bulky rebreather masks, and layered armoured skirts with torn battle damage. The backpack-mounted equipment adds a further layer of industrial religious menace. Every component speaks to a battlefield where faith is enforced through iron and smoke.
The set is supplied in hard grey resin, multi-part where noted, and is compatible with standard 40mm round bases. This Trench Crusade Style release suits players and collectors who want characterful, heavily armoured infantry with a unique visual identity that stands apart from anything else on the table. Whether fielded as inquisitorial enforcers, veteran shock troops, or fanatical zealots, they integrate naturally into a wide range of grimdark warbands and skirmish forces.
These models reward careful painting and will look exceptional when finished with aged metallics, grime washes, and freehand devotional markings.
Painting Guide: Trench Crusade Style - Verdigo Inquisitorial Shield and MachineGunThe following guide is intended to help you bring these Trench Crusade Style warriors to life with a battle-worn, industrial religious aesthetic.
1. Prime
- Apply a grey or black zenithal prime using a spray can or airbrush to establish strong shadows across the heavy armour plates.
2. Armour Base
- Base coat the armour in a dark iron or gunmetal colour such as Leadbelcher or Scale75 Speed Metal.
- Apply a thin coat of dark brown over the lower sections to hint at mud and long campaign wear.
3. Trim and Details
- Pick out rivets, crosses, and devotional icons with a bright gold or aged brass to contrast the dark armour.
- Paint the torn skirt panels in a worn off-white or dirty linen tone, then wash with a sepia shade to age the cloth.
4. Weapons
- Paint the shield face with dark steel and add freehand cracks or battle scars using a fine brush and a thin line of off-white.
- Basecoat the axe and gun components in a deeper metallic, then highlight the edges with bright silver to simulate sharpened steel.
5. Weathering
- Apply a heavy wash of Agrax Earthshade or a similar brown shade across all armour panels, letting it pool in the recesses.
- Drybrush raised edges lightly with Runefang Steel, then add small spots of orange-brown rust using a sponge or stippling brush.
6. Bases
- Texture the base with fine sand or a dedicated texture paste, paint it dark brown, drybrush with stone grey, and finish with a selective gloss varnish on any puddle or mud effects to suggest wet trench ground.
