This Trench Crusade Style Hospitaller is a physical resin miniature produced by DakkaDakka, sculpted with the grim devotion of a battlefield medic-priest who has witnessed horrors no mortal mind should endure. Clad in a long flowing robe fastened with a utilitarian belt, the figure wears a conical hood and a beak-shaped gas mask with goggles, fusing medieval religious iconography with oppressive industrial warfare aesthetics. Crosses adorn the hood and the cylindrical reliquary held in both gauntleted hands, marking this servant of a fractured faith as both healer and fanatic.

The Trench Crusade Style design language runs throughout every surface of this miniature. Riveted pauldrons sit over a worn cloak full of battle-torn holes. A hose snakes from the mask to a canister mounted at the back, alongside a strapped equipment pack suggesting this figure carries both remedy and ruin in equal measure. The robe falls to booted feet, lending the figure a haunting, processional silhouette perfect for narrative skirmish wargames set in hellish, war-ravaged settings.

Standing 34 mm from feet to eyes, this single miniature arrives as a pre-printed physical resin casting with supports already removed and surfaces cleaned where needed. It is ready to assemble if any joining is required, and ready to prime and paint straight from the packaging. Supplied on a round display base as shown.

This miniature suits solo display, small warband collections, or as a character piece within a larger force. The level of sculpted detail rewards careful painting and makes it an excellent centrepiece for any grimdark collection.

Painting Guide: Trench Crusade Style - Hospitaller

This guide is designed to bring out the religious menace and battlefield grime of the Trench Crusade Style Hospitaller, using contrast paints and traditional layering for a rich, worn finish.

1. Prime

  • Apply a grey primer overall for a neutral mid-tone base that suits both light robes and dark metal details.
  • A zenithal highlight using white primer from above will pre-shade the model and speed up later stages.

2. Armour Base

  • Paint the robe with a pale bone or off-white base coat, then wash with a diluted sepia tone to settle into the folds.
  • Layer back up to near-white on raised areas for a worn, dusty cloth effect suited to the Trench Crusade Style aesthetic.

3. Trim and Details

  • Pick out the crosses and riveted pauldrons in a dull silver or aged iron, then apply a brown wash to simulate rust and neglect.
  • Highlight edges lightly with a brighter silver to retain definition without making the metal look new.

4. Weapons

  • Paint the cylindrical reliquary in aged brass or verdigris-tinted copper to suggest sacred but battered ceremonial hardware.
  • Add fine script or freehand iconography if desired to reinforce the religious character of the piece.

5. Weathering

  • Stipple thin brown and dark grey tones onto the lower robes to suggest mud and trench filth accumulation.
  • Apply a pin wash of dark brown into the holes and tears in the fabric to add depth and shadow.

6. Bases

  • Texture the base with a dark muddy paste or fine grit, then drybrush with a pale grey or bone tone to suggest churned, ashen earth.
  • Add tufts of dead grass or small pieces of rubble to complete the desolate battlefield setting.

This is an adult hobbyist collectible, not a toy. Not suitable for children under 14 years due to small, detailed parts.
