Trench Crusade style warfare comes to life with this squad of 10 resin Conquistador miniatures, sculpted by DakkaDakka and cast in high-detail grey resin. Each figure arrives as a physical miniature with supports already removed, cleaned, and ready to assemble and paint. The squad blends early modern armour with grimdark sci-fi details: gas mask helmets, segmented plate, tactical kit, and a varied arsenal of swords, axes, shields, flintlock pistols, blunderbusses, and rifles. Whether you need a frontline melee unit or a mixed weapons squad, this set delivers impressive variety across all 10 unique poses.
At 33 mm from feet to eyes, these figures scale perfectly with standard 28 mm to 32 mm wargaming ranges. The sculpts feature strong silhouettes and deep surface definition that reward careful brushwork. Each base is a standard oval, compatible with most popular wargaming systems. The squad includes characters with wide-brimmed hats, hooded helms, and conical morion-style helmets, giving you a cohesive yet varied warband feel. The Trench Crusade style aesthetic runs throughout: gritty, heavily equipped soldiers that look like they have survived a brutal, unending war.
This set is ideal for players who want a characterful infantry unit with a distinct historical and sci-fi crossover identity. Five models carry melee weapons and shields, while five others wield firearms, giving you a balanced squad straight out of the box. All models ship unpainted and may require minor assembly depending on pose.
Squad size: 10 models. Scale: 33 mm feet to eyes. Material: resin. Sculptor: DakkaDakka.
Painting Guide: Trench Crusade style - ConquistadorsThese grimdark Conquistadors suit a palette of aged metals, earthy browns, and faded fabrics. The guide below gives you a solid approach from primer to finished base, whether you are painting a single hero or the full ten-model squad.
1. Prime
- Spray with a grey or black primer for a dark, gritty foundation.
- Grey primer helps pick out the deep surface detail before base coating.
2. Armour Base
- Apply a dark iron or gunmetal basecoat across all plate sections.
- Basecoat cloth and leather areas in dark brown or deep ochre.
3. Trim and Details
- Pick out helmet rims, buckles, and straps in a lighter bronze or brass tone.
- Paint gas mask lenses in a deep amber or dark green for an eerie glow effect.
4. Weapons
- Drybrush blades and axe heads with a bright silver, leaving recesses dark.
- Paint wooden stocks and grips in a warm mid-brown with a dark wash over the grain.
5. Weathering
- Apply a dark brown or black wash across all armour panels to fill recesses and add grime.
- Stipple a rust-orange tone at lower armour edges and around rivets for battlefield wear.
6. Bases
- Texture the base with a dark grey or muddy brown paste, then drybrush a lighter tone and add tufts or static grass for a blasted trench look.
