These Trench Crusade style Conquistador Veterans are a squad of five physical resin miniatures, sculpted by DakkaDakka and cast in high-detail grey resin. Each model stands approximately 33mm from feet to eyes, placing them comfortably alongside standard 32mm heroic-scale wargaming forces. The set ships as 10 parts across 5 models, supports already removed, ready to assemble and paint.

The squad captures the grim aesthetic of soldiers who have endured too many campaigns to count. Their armour blends late medieval plate with trench-war utility: morion-style helmets, gas mask respirators, layered pauldrons, and heavy backpacks bristling with field equipment. Loadouts vary across the five, giving the unit visual diversity and tactical flavour on the tabletop. One trooper carries a long-barrelled rifle over a shoulder, another raises a standard while gripping a sword, a third levels a brace of firearms, and two more advance with sidearms and shields. The Trench Crusade style is expressed through every rivet, every worn buckle strap, and every cracked leather skirt plate.

These miniatures are supplied unpainted. Assembly requires plastic-compatible super glue or hobby resin adhesive. A hobby knife for any minor clean-up is recommended, though supports have already been removed at the workshop before despatch.

Scale: 33mm (feet to eyes). Squad size: 5 models, 10 parts. Sculptor: DakkaDakka. Material: grey resin.

Painting Guide: Trench Crusade style - Conquistador Veterans

The following guide is intended for intermediate painters looking to bring out the grimdark character of this Trench Crusade style unit.

1. Prime

  • Apply a grey or black spray primer across all five models for maximum shadow depth.
  • A light zenithal dusting of white or light grey from above helps define raised surfaces before painting begins.

2. Armour Base

  • Base coat plate armour with a mid-steel metallic, such as Leadbelcher or Scale75 Black Metal.
  • Add a thin wash of Nuln Oil or similar dark shade over all metallic surfaces to settle into recesses.

3. Trim and Details

  • Pick out straps, skirt panels, and cloth areas with a warm leather brown or dirty ochre, then shade with Agrax Earthshade.
  • Highlight raised edges of cloth with a lighter tan or bone colour to suggest wear.

4. Weapons

  • Paint firearm stocks in dark walnut brown, highlighted with medium brown on edges.
  • Barrels and metal fittings can be drybrushed with Ironbreaker or similar bright silver for a worn metal finish.

5. Weathering

  • Apply a stippled sponge technique with dark brown and black on armour edges to simulate battlefield damage.
  • A thin glaze of rust-coloured contrast paint around joints and buckles adds campaign-worn authenticity.

6. Bases

  • Texture paste in a mud or rubble scheme suits the trench warfare theme perfectly. Add tufts of dead grass for a desolate battlefield look.

This is an adult hobbyist collectible, not a toy. Not suitable for children under 14 years due to small, detailed parts.
