Trench Crusade Style collectors will recognise these unsettling little horrors immediately. The Tet'o Abyss Hound Puppies are a set of two physical resin miniatures, each measuring approximately 22mm from feet to eyes, sculpted with a bloated, tentacled form that evokes the corrupted fauna of a world long since forsaken by any benevolent power. Their rounded, featureless crania and writhing facial appendages mark them as creatures born of void-touched pits and abyssal trenches rather than any natural order.
Each set contains two distinct sculpt variants, one facing forward with tentacles splayed and one turned to reveal a smooth, almost meditative silhouette. Both arrive pre-printed in high-detail grey resin, with supports already removed and surfaces cleaned. They are mounted on individual oval bases, textured and ready to receive paint. No assembly is required beyond optional basing materials.
These miniatures work brilliantly as familiars, void hounds, or eldritch markers on the tabletop. Their compact size makes them easy to carry in a warband but striking enough to command attention. Whether deployed as narrative tokens or full unit fillers, they carry the unmistakable weight of the Trench Crusade Style aesthetic: grotesque, reverent, and uncompromising in its darkness.
Sculpted by DakkaDakka, these pieces reflect a deep understanding of grimdark creature design. The organic softness of the forms contrasts with the implied menace beneath, making them as satisfying to paint as they are to field.
Painting Guide: Trench Crusade Style - Tet'o Abyss Hound PuppiesThe painted example shows a tarnished bronze-silver finish with heavy shading. The following steps will help you recreate that look or develop your own scheme for these void-born creatures.
1. Prime
- Apply a black or dark grey primer as an even base coat across all surfaces, including the base texture.
2. Armour Base
- Drybrush the entire body with a mid-tone bronze or gunmetal colour to catch raised detail.
- Apply a second, lighter drybrush of silver or bright steel to the highest points of the tentacles and cranium.
3. Trim and Details
- Pick out any claw-tips or small protrusions with a fine brush using off-white or pale bone.
- Recess-shade all tentacle folds and facial appendages with a dark brown or sepia wash for depth.
4. Weapons
- These models carry no weapons, but treat the claws as natural armaments by applying a gloss varnish for a wet, organic sheen.
- A thin coat of purple or teal glaze over the claw area suggests bioluminescent corruption.
5. Weathering
- Stipple dark brown around the base of each tentacle to simulate grime and void-residue.
- Apply a final pin wash of black ink into the deepest recesses to sharpen contrast.
6. Bases
- Drybrush the textured base with grey and off-white, then add a gloss medium pooled into low areas to suggest brackish water or ooze.
This is an adult hobbyist collectible, not a toy. Not suitable for children under 14 years due to small, detailed parts.
