Sci-fi meets ancient myth in this stunning squad of Minoan Astraponites, physical resin miniatures cast in fine-detail resin and delivered supports-removed, cleaned, and ready to assemble and paint. Inspired by the warriors of a lost Aegean civilisation reimagined as a technologically advanced super-soldier order, each figure wears ornate power armour engraved with laurel wreaths, feathered pteruges, and bull-head iconography drawn from Minoan tradition. The result is a set that feels genuinely unique on the tabletop, sitting apart from any standard sci-fi aesthetic.

This listing covers a squad of five standard Astraponites plus variant hero-scale figures shown in the product images. The standard troopers stand approximately 32mm to the eye-line and are armed with heavy shoulder-mounted rocket battery arrays, compact sidearm pistols, and powered gauntlets. The larger hero variants are scaled noticeably bigger, consistent with an elite champion or squad leader role, and carry expanded weapon rigs including twin missile launchers and multi-barrel energy weapons. All figures feature the same cohesive Minoan-tech design language across armour, belt detail, and helmet crest.

Each miniature arrives as a physical resin cast. Supports have already been removed and surfaces cleaned where needed. Minor mould lines may be present and can be tidied with a hobby knife before priming. Parts are supplied ready to glue and paint using standard plastic or super glue.

These miniatures are ideal for use as elite infantry, named champions, or heavy support units in any 28mm to 32mm scale science-fantasy wargame. Their distinct aesthetic works particularly well as an independent mercenary warband or a singular order of ancient-future warriors within a broader force.

Painting Guide: Sci-Fi Warrior Miniatures - Minoan Astraponites

The Minoan Astraponites reward a painting approach that balances cold metallic armour with warm ancient bronze and stone tones, creating contrast between the sci-fi hardware and the classical ornamentation.

1. Prime

  • Apply a grey or off-white spray primer evenly across all surfaces to preserve fine engraved detail on the armour plates and pteruges.
  • Check crevices around the laurel and feather trim for pooling and clear with a dry brush before the primer cures.

2. Armour Base

  • Base coat armour panels in a cold stone grey or blue-grey tone to reflect a sci-fi material feel.
  • Apply a dark navy or slate shade to the pteruge strips to differentiate the layered fabric-style elements from the hard armour.

3. Trim and Details

  • Pick out laurel wreaths, chest eagle or bull motifs, and belt cogs in a warm bronze or antique gold to call back the Minoan heritage.
  • Highlight raised edges of the bronze trim with a brighter gold or pale brass to make the ornamentation pop against the grey armour.

4. Weapons

  • Paint rocket battery tubes and energy weapon housings in a dark gunmetal, washing with a black or dark brown shade to add depth between the clustered barrels.
  • Pick out sensor nodes and spherical emitters in a pale bone or off-white, then glaze with a thin yellow or green to suggest active energy readings.

5. Weathering

  • Stipple chipping on armour edges using a sponge and dark brown or charcoal, keeping damage heaviest on knee plates, boots, and shoulder rims where battle wear would concentrate.
  • Add streaking grime to the lower armour and pteruges using a thin brown oil wash pulled downward with a damp brush.

6. Bases

  • Match the cracked stone or flooded tile theme suggested by the product images, using a pale grey dry-brush over a dark brown base coat, with a thin gloss varnish pooled in the recesses to simulate standing water.
