Sci-fi warfare has never looked this brutal or this elite. The MSC Breakout Team is a squad of hardened special forces operatives, sculpted in sharp, aggressive detail and delivered to you as physical resin miniatures, supports already removed and cleaned, ready to assemble and paint. Whether you need a strike team for your next tabletop skirmish or a display piece for your collection, this squad delivers on every front.
The set contains 11 models in total, including 10 infantry operatives in a variety of dynamic combat poses and 1 heavy weapons emplacement turret. Each operative wears layered tactical armour with integrated equipment rigs, full-face helmets, and carries a range of futuristic firearms from compact carbines to shoulder-mounted heavy weapons. The turret is a multi-barrelled rocket or missile platform mounted on a reinforced base, ideal as a defensive objective or support asset on the battlefield. Models are scaled at 28mm from feet to eyes, fitting standard wargaming bases and compatible with most 28mm rule sets.
Sculpted by DakkaDakka, every figure in this squad has been designed with rich surface detail across armour panels, pouches, and weapon housings. The poses are varied and full of energy, ranging from crouching gunners to advancing soldiers and a commanding officer calling in support. This level of detail rewards careful painting and makes each model satisfying to work on.
This sci-fi squad is a strong choice for hobbyists building a force around elite infantry units operating in urban, industrial, or void-warfare settings. The included turret adds tactical flavour and makes the unit feel like a complete, deployable asset on the table.
Painting Guide: Sci-Fi Special Forces Squad - MSC Breakout TeamThese models reward a methodical approach. Start with the large armour surfaces and work inward to the finer details. The clean panel lines and recessed trim make shading and highlighting straightforward even for intermediate painters.
1. Prime
- Apply a grey or black primer spray in thin, even coats, ensuring full coverage across all recesses and undercuts on the armour.
- A grey primer works well if you plan a lighter colour scheme, while black suits darker tactical palettes.
2. Armour Base
- Basecoat the main armour in a deep olive drab, urban grey, or dark navy depending on your desired faction aesthetic.
- Apply in two thin coats for a smooth, even foundation before shading.
3. Trim and Details
- Pick out helmet visors, shoulder trim, and chest panel accents in a contrasting metallic or accent colour such as bronze, gold, or hazard yellow.
- Use a fine detail brush to keep edges crisp and avoid bleed onto the base armour coat.
4. Weapons
- Basecoat firearms and the turret in dark iron or gunmetal grey, then drybrush lightly with a brighter silver to bring out barrel edges and mechanical surfaces.
- Add small spot colours on scopes or energy cells using orange, teal, or red for a sci-fi energy effect.
5. Weathering
- Apply a dark brown or black wash into all recesses and panel lines, then remove excess from flat surfaces with a damp brush for a battle-worn finish.
- Add chipping effects to armour edges using a sponge or fine brush with a mid-tone grey or rust brown.
6. Bases
- Texture paste or fine ballast glued to the base and drybrushed in concrete grey suits an urban or industrial battlefield setting perfectly for this kind of sci-fi strike team.
This is an adult hobbyist collectible, not a toy. Not suitable for children under 14 years due to small, detailed parts.
