Sci-fi cavalry meets machine devotion in the Styxmoon Clibanarii, a squad of five heavily armoured mounted warriors sculpted with brutal mechanical detail and relentless forward momentum. Each rider is clad in thick, riveted power armour fitted with respirator helms, bulky backpacks, and a range of weapons including rotary cannons, rifles, and blunt force mauls. The mounts are fully armoured beasts, plated from head to haunch, posed mid-stride with a weight and solidity that makes each base feel grounded and ready for the table.
This set contains five physical resin miniatures, each one already printed, with supports removed and surfaces cleaned. They arrive ready to assemble and paint straight from the box. The riders stand approximately 31mm from feet to eyes, giving them a commanding presence alongside standard infantry. The mounts add considerable height and footprint, making these figures a natural focal point in any battleline.
The squad includes varied poses and weapon loadouts across all five models, offering visual variety within a single coherent unit. Whether you are building a mechanised cavalry force or a devoted tech-priest warband, these figures carry the right combination of function and grim pageantry to anchor a serious collection.
Sculpted by DakkaDakka with their signature grimdark machine cult aesthetic, the Styxmoon Clibanarii suit players and collectors who want mounted sci-fi heavy infantry with serious character and detail at every angle.
Painting Guide: Sci-Fi Machine Cult Miniatures - Styxmoon ClibanariiThese figures reward a methodical approach. Work from the underside of the mount upward, tackling the horse armour before the rider so recessed areas stay accessible throughout the process.
1. Prime
- Apply a grey or black primer spray evenly across the full model, holding the can at a consistent distance to avoid pooling in recesses.
- Allow to cure fully before handling, as the layered armour plates create deep crevices that hold moisture longer than flat surfaces.
2. Armour Base
- Basecoat the plate armour on both rider and mount with a flat, mid-tone steel or iron grey such as Leadbelcher or equivalent.
- Block in any secondary armour sections or cloth elements in a contrasting dark colour such as deep burgundy, olive, or black to break up the metallic mass.
3. Trim and Details
- Pick out rivets, vents, and raised trim in brass or bronze to suggest aged machine craftsmanship.
- Paint respirator lenses and any small sensor ports in a deep amber or red to add focal points across the model.
4. Weapons
- Basecoat weapon barrels and stocks in a darker metal tone, then drybrush a lighter silver over raised edges to suggest wear and use.
- Add spot colour to energy coils or power cells using a bright, saturated tone such as electric blue or pale green for contrast.
5. Weathering
- Apply a dark brown or black wash across all metallic surfaces and let it settle into the recesses to unify the palette and add depth.
- Stipple chipping and battle damage across pauldrons and mount flanks using a torn foam sponge and a mid-tone silver for a worn, campaign-ready finish.
6. Bases
- Finish with textured paste or coarse sand, painted in a dusty stone or ash grey to complement the cold machine palette of the models above.
