Sci-fi wargaming reaches a new level of detail with the MSC Operations Team 2nd Squad Build Kit, a physical resin miniature set sculpted by DakkaDakka and delivered ready to assemble and paint. Each figure measures 28mm from feet to eyes, offering crisp, sharp detail across every plate of armour, weapon, and piece of kit. The squad contains 10 assembled example poses drawn from 72 unique parts and a 78-part build kit, giving you enormous flexibility to create varied, characterful troopers for your tabletop force.
This is a multi-part kit. Supports have already been removed and surfaces cleaned where needed, so the pieces arrive ready for assembly with standard plastic or resin adhesive. The parts include a wide variety of torsos, leg poses, shoulder armour, helmeted and unhelmeted heads, backpacks, capes, and weapons ranging from carbines and shotguns to swords and heavy support guns. Whether you are building a ten-person fire team or a larger operational unit, this sci-fi kit gives you the components to make each soldier look distinct on the battlefield.
The aesthetic draws on grimdark military themes: armoured troopers built for war in hostile, forgotten corners of the galaxy, equipped with heavy-duty gear and weapons that mean business. Squad leaders, medics, heavy weapon specialists, and close-combat fighters can all be represented using the parts included. The scale and connector system are designed to work cleanly across the full range.
Each set ships as loose resin parts in secure packaging. Assembly requires hobby glue suitable for resin. Painting is required to finish the models. This sci-fi build kit is a serious hobbyist product for collectors and competitive wargamers alike.
Painting Guide: Sci-Fi Fire Squad Miniatures-MSC Operations Team 2nd Squad Build KitThe grimdark military palette suits this kit perfectly. Follow the steps below for a battle-worn, operational look that will stand out on any tabletop.
1. Prime
- Spray with a grey or black primer for maximum detail retention across all recesses and edges.
- Ensure all parts are fully coated before moving to base colours.
2. Armour Base
- Apply a dark olive green, urban grey, or deep navy as the primary armour colour.
- Use thin, even coats to preserve sculpted detail on shoulder plates and chest armour.
3. Trim and Details
- Pick out helmet lenses, buckles, and piping with a contrasting metallic or bright accent colour.
- Use a fine brush for small details such as insignia panels and pouches.
4. Weapons
- Base coat weapons in dark gunmetal or black, then drybrush with a lighter silver to bring out barrel edges and grips.
- Add a spot colour to scopes or energy cells for visual interest.
5. Weathering
- Apply a dark brown or black wash across the whole model, letting it pool naturally in recesses.
- Drybrush raised armour edges with a light silver or bone colour to simulate wear and field use.
6. Bases
- Use textured paste, small stones, or fine sand to build up a rubble or ash-waste base theme that complements the sci-fi military aesthetic of the squad.
This is an adult hobbyist collectible, not a toy. Not suitable for children under 14 years due to small, detailed parts.
