Forgotten Champions brings you Ragnir, a towering Human Viking warrior sculpted by Haito and inspired by the savage Barbarian factions of the frozen north. This single resin miniature stands as a monument to brutal close-quarters warfare, wielding twin axes carved with ancient Celtic knotwork and clad in thick fur pelts stripped from beasts of the tundra.

Ragnir is presented in a dynamic, mid-stride combat pose, one massive axe raised high and the other sweeping low, suggesting an unstoppable berserker charge. His horned helmet, studded pauldrons, and layered fur cloak are packed with intricate surface detail that rewards careful brushwork at every scale. The rocky rubble base adds weight and narrative to the piece, grounding this savage champion in a world of endless conflict.

Designed for collectors, skirmish gamers, and painters who demand expressive, high-quality resin miniatures, this Forgotten Champions release pairs beautifully with any warband built around primal strength and northern fury. The model measures approximately 75mm to the top of the raised axe, making it a commanding centrepiece on any table.

Supplied unpainted and unassembled. Resin may require light cleaning and preparation before priming. Sculpted by Haito exclusively for the Forgotten Champions range.

Painting Guide: Ragnir - Human Viking

This guide will help you bring Ragnir to life with a weathered, battle-hardened finish worthy of a Forgotten Champions centrepiece. Work in thin layers throughout to preserve the sharp sculpted detail across armour, fur, and knotwork.

1. Prime

  • Apply a zenithal prime using black from below and bone white from above to pre-shade the deep fur texture and recessed knotwork panels.

2. Armour Base

  • Base the helmet and pauldrons with a warm steel grey, then layer up to a bright silver at raised edges.
  • Wash the armour plates with a dark brown ink to age the metal and push depth into engraved areas.

3. Trim and Details

  • Pick out the Celtic knotwork trim with a thinned aged brass, leaving recesses dark for contrast.
  • Highlight horn tips and bone elements from mid-tan up to near-white at the very tips.

4. Weapons

  • Paint axe blades with a cold steel base, adding a faint blue glaze to suggest folded northern iron.
  • Handles can be rendered in dark walnut brown with a pale highlight along the grip edges.

5. Weathering

  • Stipple chipped paint and edge nicks onto all blade surfaces using a torn blister foam and dark grey.
  • Add dried blood streaks to lower axe edges using thinned dark red, pulling the brush downward.

6. Bases

  • Drybrush the rocky base from dark grey through mid-stone to a pale bone highlight, then add a light frost effect to crevices using watered-down white to reinforce the frozen tundra theme of this Forgotten Champions warrior.
