The Patroclus Moutain Rider is a rugged, heavily armed recon vehicle built for the most punishing terrain in the grimdark far future. This physical resin miniature arrives supports-removed and ready to assemble and paint, comprising 28 detailed parts that lock together to form a formidable four-wheeled war machine crewed by two armoured soldiers. Measuring approximately 71x100mm at its base footprint and standing 55mm tall, it is scaled for 32mm wargaming and fits seamlessly into skirmish and large-scale battlefield games alike.
The vehicle bristles with weaponry, featuring twin-barrelled side-mounted guns, a forward autocannon, and a turret-mounted heavy weapon operated by the gunner. The crew figures are rendered with individual armour plating, cables, respirator masks, and equipment packs, giving each operator a distinct character. The hull panels carry vents, access hatches, riveted armour sections, and mechanical piping, rewarding painters who enjoy working fine detail into every surface. The chunky off-road tyres feature deep tread blocks and sculpted hub caps that bring the model to life from any angle.
The Patroclus Moutain Rider suits collectors building mechanised infantry forces, rapid assault squads, or independent mercenary companies operating in hostile environments. It pairs naturally with infantry on foot or other light vehicles to form a fast-moving strike element on the tabletop.
Each unit ships as a physical resin kit, supports already removed, with minor cleanup completed. Super glue is recommended for assembly. Primer and paints are sold separately.
Painting Guide: Patroclus Moutain Rider - Sci-Fi Wargaming Miniatures, 32mm ScaleThe following guide is aimed at intermediate painters who want a battle-worn, campaign-hardened finish that suits the grimdark aesthetic of the Patroclus Moutain Rider on the tabletop.
1. Prime
- Apply a thin, even coat of grey or black spray primer across all surfaces, paying attention to the recesses around the wheels, pipes, and crew figures.
- Allow to cure fully before moving to base colours.
2. Armour Base
- Basecoat the hull with a deep military green, a dusty tan, or a cold gunmetal depending on your chosen colour scheme.
- Apply the basecoat in thin layers to preserve the sculpted surface detail on the armour panels and vents.
3. Trim and Details
- Pick out cables, pipes, and mechanical components in a dark iron or bronze tone to separate them visually from the hull.
- Paint crew armour in a contrasting colour such as deep red, ochre, or bone to make the operators stand out against the vehicle body.
4. Weapons
- Drybrush gun barrels and turret components with a bright silver over a dark iron basecoat to suggest worn, heat-scorched metal.
- Add a thin wash of brown or black into recesses around the weapon mounts to increase depth and shadow.
5. Weathering
- Apply chipping effects using a small sponge dipped in a dark grey or brown paint, focusing on armour edges, wheel arches, and corners.
- Add streaking grime effects to vertical hull surfaces using a diluted brown wash dragged downward in thin lines.
- Drybrush the tyres lightly with a pale brown or stone colour to simulate accumulated dust and dirt.
6. Bases
- Model the base with textured paste or fine sand to evoke rocky highland terrain, then drybrush in grey and bone tones to match the vehicle's weathered appearance.
- Finish with a matt varnish coat over the entire model to protect the paintwork during handling and play.
