The Osedax Swarm of The Great Harvest descends upon the battlefield as a tide of chitinous horror, each creature a writhing mass of segmented limbs, crystalline carapace spines, and hollow eye-sockets that betray no mercy. This set contains five individual resin miniatures, each approximately 20mm in total height, sculpted with the kind of savage detail that rewards close inspection and a steady brush hand. Whether crawling from debris fields or surging across a blasted industrial plain, these creatures embody the relentless biological hunger of a dying cosmos.
Each model arrives as a physical resin miniature with supports already removed and surfaces cleaned, ready to assemble where applicable and paint straight from the pack. The sculpts feature two distinct body types across the five models: a dense, bulbous cluster form bristling with organic nodules and folded carapace petals, and a low-slung multi-limbed crawler form with articulated tail segments and hooked claws. Together they create a visually cohesive yet varied swarm unit on 32mm oval bases.
The Osedax Swarm of The Great Harvest is ideal for use as objective markers, swarm tokens, creature units, or environmental hazards in any grimdark sci-fi skirmish or mass-battle wargame system. At this scale and level of detail, they integrate seamlessly alongside standard 32mm infantry forces, adding biological menace to any force composition. The Osedax Swarm of The Great Harvest rewards painters of all skill levels, from drybrushing beginners to advanced glazing specialists.
Supplied unpainted. Bases included. Some minor assembly may be required depending on individual model configuration. Superglue recommended.
Painting Guide: Osedax Swarm of The Great Harvest x 5 - Sci-Fi Wargaming Miniatures, 32mm ScaleThese models suit a pale, sickly organic palette or a dark chitin scheme. The guide below covers a grimdark biological approach.
1. Prime
- Apply a light grey or bone white zenithal prime to preserve surface detail and create instant shading depth
- A black undercoat works well if you prefer a darker, more shadowed final result
2. Armour Base
- Base the carapace plates with a muted stone grey or pale flesh tone
- Apply a thinned wash of brown or sepia across all raised carapace surfaces to settle into recesses
3. Trim and Details
- Pick out the nodule buttons and eye sockets with a deep red or dark amber to suggest bioluminescence
- Layer up the carapace tips with off-white or pale cream for a worn, bleached appearance
4. Weapons
- Paint the claws and hooked limb tips with a dark bone, then edge highlight with pure white
- Add a thin glaze of green or yellow over the claw tips to suggest venom or organic acid
5. Weathering
- Stipple dark brown around joints and segment rings to simulate grime and biological secretion
- Add fine scratches to carapace panels using a fine liner brush and a light grey highlight colour
6. Bases
- Use a dark ash or cracked earth texture paste, then drybrush with pale grey and add small tufts or dead foliage for a desolate wasteland feel
